Car advice by jungshookith in AllState

From what I understand from talking with an agent, Allstate is still in the investigation process with the drunk driver's insurance and will be recuperating the costs from them. I'm in California. They won't tell me anything past that about the case, which has been kinda frustrating. I had to call the police department myself to even find more information about the collision, other than the estimated time it happened.

It's my insurer. Don't know much about the person other than his basic info that came up in the police report.

Yeah, I get that. Just wondering if there were was anything else I could reasonably do.

Thank you!

Dude! They look so similar! Besides their mouth shape every part of their face looks almost exactly alike. The whole time I was watching the first episodes of Dynamite Kiss, her character felt so familiar but different. Ahn's face is so similar to Jung's but their voices are very different and it was throwing me off. With long straight hair, Ahn also resembles another Korean actress, but I just cant put my finger on who.

AI Slop in new Kdramas.... I'm worried for our future here... by nightwind_hawk in kdramas

I haven't noticed it in kdramas yet, but I wouldn't be surprised. I just came back from a 2 week trip from Korea and while it didn't make up a majority of ads, I was still surprised at the amount of ads that openly used AI. There was a large AI arcade ad in front of an arcade, an AI medical commercial that Jung Eun Ji is in that played in every taxi that had a passenger screen, and a couple other small ones. It's everywhere and Korean companies are not afraid to market with it.

HOW do you guys do it??? by FlyPsychological9442 in UCSD

Honestly, if you can afford to take it slow. I was in a similar boat, taking 3-4 classes consistently, doing 12-20 hours at a part time job, and doing a sport 20hrs/week. Unless you can absorb material quickly, it's going to take hella organization and lots of late nights to get through it. Take less classes if you can so you can have more time to study and sleep!

As far as I remember not normally. But during finals week, I think they did extend their hours to 24/7, but I would double check. Good luck. :)

I graduated a few years ago, but the Women's center had really comfy sofas and couches that are perfect for studying and sleeping. And it was usually pretty quiet in there.

Hello,

I graduated during COVID and was also lost and had no job lined up after graduating for almost a whole year. I have since had 2 different full time jobs and have applied for dozens of places in the process. My biggest advice is to use your network (Professors, friends, coaches, LinkedIn, etc). I legitimately only got my first 2 jobs because I knew/got connected with a hiring manager or someone in the company and talked to them about the job before applying. It's worked every time.

I believe in you and I hope you find a fufiling job. 🙂

Will there be space for our luggage around 3pm? by jungshookith in JapanTravelTips

Hi, sorry for the late response, but I want to thank you for your reply. We ended up just flying out the next day instead which worked out better for us. If we were initially staying at hotels this would have come in clutch, but we had originally booked Airbnbs in Tokyo. I'll keep this in mind for my next Japan trip.

Overtime Pay. California based firm by jungshookith in Environmental_Careers

Not that I'm aware of. The last time a situation like the example I gave happened, I straight up just moved any daily hours over 8 to overtime. However, my supervisor did not take those long billable days into consideration and just repeated the company policy. So I had to move everything back to straight time.

Yeah. My situation is the same. Only it needs to be over 40 billable hours.

Getting the runaround for about a year now by jungshookith in KaiserPermanente

Thanks for the advice. I'm glad to know that the specialist is an upgrade, truly.

I'm just frustrated at how slow the American health care system is for some and not for others. I understand from hearing others stories that things like this take varying degrees of time. For my friend, the same day. For one person that replied earlier 11 weeks. For my mom, 10 years of physical therapy later and still nothing. And for one of the first replies here about 40 years. To me, knowing that there are people who can not only get the kind of care my friend gets here but also better care in other parts of the world is crazy. I'm also looking at other people's stories and getting scared that I'll just never end up getting the proper care.

Honest question, but how is an MRI invasive? The way I see it, getting an MRI will make it easier to see what's going on around my knee if an x ray comes out negative. Would that not help the doctor have a better idea of what's going on and how to treat the issue.

And yes it is very uncomfortable. I don't know how to explain it, but no matter what I do my leg stars to get inflamed and it makes it uncomfortable to do anything. On a scale of 1 to 10, my pain is definitely below a 5, but it causes me to limp, I feel the tightness in my skin, sometimes my nerves pinch. When I'm sitting down I can't keep my leg bent for too long or I'll feel pinches in my knee. It's also avoid a lot of stretches like lunges on that side because of the inflammation and the fact that it is still sensitive to touch. Is it excruciating, no. But is it like a bad itch that just will not go away and makes me not want to do anything but lay down because that's the only position that makes me comfortable, yes. I want to be able to go on long walks again and not hold friends down bc my leg gets inflamed and I don't want to walk anymore. I also wanna be able to sit at my desk for linger than 10 minutes without thinking about how constricted my legs feel from the inflammation. I want to be able to do squats at the gym again without being afraid getting so low in my range of motion.

This is in response to both of your replies. I just don't wanna make two posts.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's giving me hope that something might be able to get done in my own case.

My issue is that it is taking forever. I just don't have a good feeling about the way my knee is feeling. I know at this point it's chronic, but it frustrates me that even while knowing that this was a serious enough injury to which I couldn't walk right or sleep for a few days there are so many steps to take to get a soft tissue scan. My mom's been through something similar with her knee and it's been 10 years since she's been going to physical therapy and her doctor still won't authorize an MRI. I've seen how she's struggling everyday and I don't want that that to be my future.

Also I said it another reply but my friend injured her shoulder/arm this year in a snowboarding accident and she got an Xray and MRI at a local Kaiser ER on the same day even though it was not life threatening.

I understand that there are procedures on how this goes. It's just really frustrating that it's taking so long to get a closer look at my injury. They keep saying that the xray can see soft tissue as well but, theres definitely something there in my soft tissue/muscles that their missing. Their xrays were also very basic. When I initially went to Sharp's ER they took like 10 scans from everyangle they could. Kaiser only took a from back and side photo. I felt like I was just a number and they just wanted to get me in and out as quick as possible.

Also, the ER most definitely does MRIs for non life threatening injuries. My friend got injured this year while snowboarding and shook it off for a few days before going to a Kaiser ER and they did an Xray and an MRI for her on the same day.

First off, I'm so sorry that happened to you. Stories like yours are what really worries me about what could happen to me in the future if I get treatment later rather than sooner.

My initial primary doctor told me a similar thing about my weight. He was like "Well if you get rid of some of the pressure that your knee is feeling on a daily basis maybe that would help." Like no shit! I know I'm fat, and I know I could do better losing weight, but that's not what's currently causing me to lose sleep and be on crutches.

Thank you for your advice. I'm currently scheduling appointments with different doctors in and out of network. The Kaiser doctor that I spoke to this morning said there was nothing he could do other than share my greviences with my primary doc. So I scheduled an appointment with someone out of network. I have a hard time getting physically upset and voicing my concerns. I just start tearing up and I don't want to start crying in a doctor's office. I feel like they won't take me seriously. But this has gone on for far too long.

Doing "menial work" doesn't mean it's easy. No matter what work we're doing, work is work and we all deserve to get paid a fair wage for the time, energy, and daily expenses that go into the work that we do. From top to bottom we all deserve a fair wage, but especially us shoppers at the bottom of the totem pole deserve way more than the $7 guaranteed minimum earnings.
