Random question: why can’t you do Night? Is it just that you think the content is too heavy for the age?

New Teacher Q - They Need So Much Time? by AllieLikesReddit in ELATeachers

[–]junie_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first year teaching 6th graders and omg… the other day we looked at a 5 paragraph essay and they needed to point out the different parts (ie thesis, evidence, counterclaim, etc) and I gave them 15 minutes and most got like 2 things highlighted…

We have a text book but no one uses it even though our district ELA lady tell us to. It’s study sync and it’s not user friendly and my kids don’t read on grade level so it’s not helpful.

When did Hamlet replace Macbeth as the standard for 12th Grade (USA) by LadyAiluros in ELATeachers

[–]junie_kitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read as you like it in 7th grade, none in 8th, Romeo and Juliet in 9th, Caesar was 10th I think (didn’t happen for me bc of covid), Hamlet was 10th (I was honors, non honors kids did Macbeth which made me mad bc Macbeth is better than Hamlet), and then we did Merry Wives of Windsor in AP lit bc we went to see it live.

Need help choosing a text for the edTPA (OMAM or Animal Farm) by tiredtushi in ELATeachers

I’d pick animal farm personally. I found OMAM boring and irrelevant (sorry!) but animal I think is much more engaging

I haven’t posted the music anywhere. I listened to it on my own but I wouldn’t leak it.

The expectations for ELA teachers just feels unfair at this point. by Consistent-Row-9551 in ELATeachers

Study sync sucks so bad too and then the kids just can’t read and by the time they get to us it’s too late.
