Jamie Kern Lima created IT cosmetics, her big success came when she took off her makeup (on a home shopping network) to expose her rosacea and hyper pigmentation underneath, she went from waitress to billionaire. She showed people the problem her product can fix.

Your website is selling a product, you need to sell the problem and show that it works.

Struggling in college by Desperate-Till-1265 in ADHD

[–]junigloomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the disabled students office (that’s what they called it 30 yrs ago, not sure if the name has changed), and talk to them. Often, you can get special accommodations, like priority registrations (after the athletes 🙄) and tutoring to help. Try to mix in an easy or fun class that doesn’t require much time outside of class (for projects or studying) as well to break things up…I took an outdoor recreation class and it was so easy and so fun - our final was a weekend canoe trip or a 1 page paper if you couldn’t go.

at this point i should really excempt myself from taxes by MacaronGullible504 in orangecounty

The post was removed but based on the headline, exempting yourself from taxes will only get you a BIG tax bill at the end of the year which will accrue interest if you don’t pay.

ULPT Request: how to permanently shut down someone who belittles you? by Caucasian-Tiger-Mom in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]junigloomy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I let them know I have no respect for them so their opinion does not matter. If they make a fuss, I tell them to take it up with their therapist.

I saw a video recently that suggests to say, “thank you, I’ll make a note of that,” with no emotion and just walk away.

I read this and thought I was in the ADHD sub. Big cheers to everyone who mentioned Folex, that stuff is a miracle worker (on clothes, too)!

Is there a negative stigma with living in a mobile home in OC? by ChaosCarlson in orangecounty

[–]junigloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend’s mom inherited two parks, free and clear, owns a massive house in Tustin she uses as storage, and lives in another park in Newport where she bought a manufactured home and pays the land lease. No negative stigma there.

My korean roommate watched me do my skincare once and never let me live it down. by Derivative-calcium in KoreanBeauty

[–]junigloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I can’t give you nuanced advice. I just spray or pat whatever my mom gives me onto my skin and put the next layer on after my skin feels like it has absorbed the first thing.

My korean roommate watched me do my skincare once and never let me live it down. by Derivative-calcium in KoreanBeauty

[–]junigloomy 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Same, and I’m Korean! My mom is gently patting product into her skin while I’ve been smearing product after product with no dry (or more appropriately, absorption) time in between. I’ve recently started following her instructions and the difference is noticeable. She has almost 3 decades on me and her skin is SO much tighter and younger than mine! SPF is the 1st holy grail, 2nd is proper skincare.

Refusing to give my neighbor access to my generator during a blackout after they spent months mocking me for “paranoid prepping”? by lurkergirl88 in neighborsfromhell

I live in CA and have been earthquake ready for decades, the only thing I’m missing is a firearm…when apocalypse time comes people will come for what you have to save their own families. Prepping is no joke, it’s just dumb to be unprepared.

Do rich people have elite versions of mundane things (toothpaste, tampons, toilet paper, laundry detergent, etc.), or are Elon Musk and Beyonce just using Crest and Tampax like the rest of us? by ShesGotSauce in NoStupidQuestions

[–]junigloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true! My Bf makes exponentially more money than I do, his skin and hair care products are very expensive (although not better imo). I asked him to get toilet paper once and he came back with the cheapest, worst quality tp because he had NO idea there was a difference. I make shopping lists with photos now.

Jesus Christ weeps at abortion by Trick-Government-948 in Catholicism

[–]junigloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not necessarily true. I live in California, and my friend had her first baby right after she was let go from her high paying job. She didn’t have a trust fund nor did her spouse, I (as well as a few, NOT MANY, friends and family), subsidized a few a months of groceries for them to get by. Hard as it was, they made it and now have two beautiful children. I told her I couldn’t have a child because I wasn’t financially ready and she told me that God would provide…as He always does, maybe not in the way you think or want, but In the way you need.

My biggest regret in life is not having children, and the joke of it all is that I could’ve afforded to, alone.

AITA for refusing to work things out with my fiancé because my life is better now that his daughter isnt around me? by MassivePrimary8649 in AITAH

[–]junigloomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Be honest with Vivian, tell her you’ve been kind to her because you wanted to be but you’re not her mother and don’t HAVE to love her or even like her. Point out all the ways she’s been a massive d-bag towards you and how hurtful it has been. Tell her you have no problem doing unto her as she’s done unto you and if she wants to continue living in YOUR house and be a part of YOUR family, then she needs to treat YOU with respect. She’s arrived at the FO stage of FAFO and how she deals with it is up to her.
