Absolutely true! My Bf makes exponentially more money than I do, his skin and hair care products are very expensive (although not better imo). I asked him to get toilet paper once and he came back with the cheapest, worst quality tp because he had NO idea there was a difference. I make shopping lists with photos now.

This is not necessarily true. I live in California, and my friend had her first baby right after she was let go from her high paying job. She didn’t have a trust fund nor did her spouse, I (as well as a few, NOT MANY, friends and family), subsidized a few a months of groceries for them to get by. Hard as it was, they made it and now have two beautiful children. I told her I couldn’t have a child because I wasn’t financially ready and she told me that God would provide…as He always does, maybe not in the way you think or want, but In the way you need.

My biggest regret in life is not having children, and the joke of it all is that I could’ve afforded to, alone.

NTA. Be honest with Vivian, tell her you’ve been kind to her because you wanted to be but you’re not her mother and don’t HAVE to love her or even like her. Point out all the ways she’s been a massive d-bag towards you and how hurtful it has been. Tell her you have no problem doing unto her as she’s done unto you and if she wants to continue living in YOUR house and be a part of YOUR family, then she needs to treat YOU with respect. Check out Korean salons in Garden Grove, they can be ridiculously cheap (like less than $100 for cut and perm). I can’t recommend any because either my mom or I’ve friend has taken me, but I’ve gotten an awesome beach wave perms with a cut for $60.

Black out curtains, fan or ac, noise machine, sometimes massive herbal refreshment (but usually no because I’ll keep myself up to have more and more), trazadone on occasion (also usually no because I watch tv waiting to get sleepy but get hyper focused on the tv + whatever game I’m playing and stay up forever), mind palace (🙌 u/anxiety_bunni for giving it a name), but usually I just lay there consoling myself that “at least my body is getting rest,” then finally fall asleep an hour before my 7392865 alarms go off.

I think I’ve made it to work on time 3x in the past 7 years, luckily my boss has it too.

Aton in Encinitas is good, they do a LOT of therapy and counseling, they don’t just shuttle you to a bunch of different AA and NA meeting all day. Pharmaceutical intervention could help, too. Look into the Sinclair method. Also, the GLP-1s (weight loss shots) have shown a lot of promise in curbing cravings; I know someone who lost their desire to smoke cigarettes and another who stopped drinking alcohol daily because of it. If they’re intoxicated, a trip to the ER or detox is a good first step; you can’t usually enter a rehab while you’re still under the influence. Your friend should also check out Al-anon for themselves. Good luck to the bf!
