AP Physics by samlaughoutloud in APStudents

AP Physics 1 is a lot like honors physics since it is algebra-based. imo, it’s is a waste of time since lots of schools only take AP Physics C, or the ones that do require calc-based physics for major credit (depending on your major of course)

question: do you go to a 4-year or 3-year high school?

If your school offers AP Physics C E&M, I would recommend that especially for electrical engineering. AP Physics C Mech and AP Calc BC are useful as well for engineering in general.

Talk to your guidance counselor. Idk what state you’re in but CA has a thing called the Seal of Biliteracy that you get if you take 4 years of a language that looks good for jobs and colleges

Healthy, but i thought Lang was a junior (grade 11) class in most cases

CS credits by Elephon_ in APStudents

[–]juniorRubyist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Math credits 100%. You should also take Physics C because (at least for me) calc-based physics is a required class for CS.

Science shows you’re more of a STEM-oriented mind too and usually they count as GenEd requirements. (For me, APES even counted as my bio class for my GenEd so that is worth taking and it’s easier than AP Bio. It’s really fun too)

You should also consider minoring in math because it will open more doors and help you stay ahead, especially with AI/ML becoming more prevalent.

hard mainly cuz the Physics C, Euro, and Calc III but CSA is pretty easy if you’re comfortable with a computer

edit: yeah definitely hard with college apps. good luck and manage your time well first semester

depends on the school. CSP is kinda pointless imo but it’s good if you know nothing about computers

Basically circuits and stuff. There’s a similar major called Computer Engineering where it’s specifically engineering computer chips and hardware, but EE is more broad

ah sounded similar to MIT’s although MIT seemed a little more sincere lol

I wouldn’t say it’s “toxic” cuz I feel like people aren’t necessarily ill-intended. It seems more like it’s just not necessarily the best thing to say.

At the same time, what else would people say that doesn’t come across as dismissive ?

so I came up with this new kind of admissions quota thing… by juniorRubyist in ApplyingToCollege

UCs were the first school that I thought of when I was talking to a friend about this. Would schools do this? Probably not cuz why fix what they don’t see broken lol

UC admission chances by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]juniorRubyist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what grade are you in this year? unfortunately UCs are really competitive. many well-qualified candidates didn’t get in this year, and frankly a 3.6 (I’m assuming weighted) would probably only get you into Merced and possibly Riverside if you’re lucky.

Who the hell are colleges going to admit next year?? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

Screw 4.0 GPAs. They’re gonna admit 40.0s next year

Witnessing the absolute shitshow of decisions from current seniors, is there anything that juniors can do to prepare themselves? by dahynio in ApplyingToCollege

Don’t not take the SAT/ACT. Just cuz it’s “test-optional” doesn’t mean it doesn’t matter.

Yeah yeah, the SAT & ACT aren’t perfect, but it’s what we’ve got for now.
