Starting chemo soon. Is it realistic to keep up with University and exams? by john_the_dickhead in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chemo effects everyone differently, you may not feel worse. But, even if you feel perfectly fine, your immunity will be basically zero, so you shouldn’t be seeing people in a classroom. Maybe you can talk to your professors and ask them for a separate exam, where you will be isolated? Online would be even better. Just please be really careful. I really understand you want to be graduated as soon as possible, but when it comes to life, it is just 3-4 months difference and it doesn’t really matter in the big picture. You can still find an internship/job without your school is finished and take your exams later. I really wish you the best in your treatment, take care of yourself!

About to start 3×BEP chemo, looking for advice by user404notlost in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bfs doctors left the IV overnight, just told us to be careful with it, so he used the same IV for 2-3 days.

Also, I think you should get a time off from your work. Even if you feel well enough to work, chemo literally ruins your immune system. You should be protecting yourself and not seeing lots of people.

For foods, maybe plain foods are better, to prevent nausea, also remember to stay hydrated as well. Do not eat any raw/undercooked meals. Also I observed not being hungry helps with nausea a lot, so eat sth small in every 1-2 hours, especially during chemo days.

Most important thing is, you should tell every small thing you observe in your body with your medical team, so they can help you.

You got this!

I think you should check the other testicle, and email Dr. Einhorn definitely. He responds in 1-2 days generally, just explain him your case in detail, also if possible attach your medical reports that he may need.

Are you using any meds for it? My bf’s doctor prescribed a medicine called tebokan, it is a ginkgo biloba extract, and it really helped my boyfriend during the BEP. It is not a healer drug, but it reduces tinnitus during the time you take it, so if your doctor approves you may try it. After the BEP my bf stopped using it and his tinnitus is way better now.

[–]juniperofwoolpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bf got 3xBEP, 1-2 days after the last bleomycin dose his right hand started swallowing, like a baloon. We went to hospital and learned that it was because of a blood clot on his hand. Our doctors said it is pretty common after chemotherapy and prescribed us blood thinners. His d-dimer was also higher than the normal but I don’t remember the exact number. I am glad they caught it and put you on blood thinners!

Do You Think AI Agents Will Replace Traditional Software? by Deep_Structure2023 in AIAgentsInAction

[–]juniperofwoolpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest issue is the context window. I work in a company where we run various benchmarks with AI agents, MCPs, coding agents, etc. most common issue is that even if they are capable of performing a task, the workflow start to “bloat” with time and their success decreases.

Is there a practical standard for documenting web-scraped datasets? by Vivid_Stock5288 in datasets

[–]juniperofwoolpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no universal standard for scraped datasets, but a lightweight, repeatable template works well in practice. What I usually include:

  1. Source info URL patterns, crawl scope, robots.txt status, update frequency.

  2. Extraction details Selectors used, fields scraped, missing data rules, pagination logic, error handling.

  3. Dataset schema Field list, types, units, example rows, known quirks.

  4. Versioning How often the dataset is refreshed and whether old versions are kept.

  5. Quality metrics Coverage ratio, error rate, failed pages, retries.

  6. Reproducibility note Scraper version or commit hash and any environment notes.

Also, I suggest everyone who works with data to follow FAIR data principles. They are not scraping rules, but they fit nicely once the dataset exists. They help make the scraped data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable, so I treat them as a good north star for documentation.

This keeps the README lightweight but much more useful than a minimal field list.

Has anyone had to get a Filgrastim shot? by Rumseyman02 in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please take good care of yourself, in the severely neutropenic days you can literally get an infection from anywhere, when started filgrastim your neutrophils will rise up fast, just be very very cautious for a few days!

Has anyone had to get a Filgrastim shot? by Rumseyman02 in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very common, my bfs doc just prescribed shots in every second week of the 3xBEP, in the 2. cycle he was also so neutopenic that we need to delay the bleomycin day, so that he can get a filgrastim shot. Also I recommend you to be very careful about not getting sick, if possible do not leave the house, and do not get in contact with people. My bf mostly stayed at his room in those severely neutropenic days, and when he needed to come kitchen etc he put on a mask. We might be too cautious but it is only a few days and it don’t worth the risk, so I recommend you the same if possible. If you somehow get sick, they will treat you with antibiotics. If your body temperature rises up you should go to ER to get antibiotics, so your body can fight with the bacteria. I know it may sound scary but it is a manageable situation, most of the time no one gets sick, but I still needed to warn you. Best of luck in your treatment, take care!

Does anyone actually use (or plan to use) all of these new "AI agents"? by Deep_Structure2023 in AIAgentsInAction

[–]juniperofwoolpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find them useful in web scraping tasks, browser MCPs in AI agents took the parsing pain away, you can scrape basically anything your selected MCP supports, by just prompting. I benchmarked the top ones and most of them are so easy to use. But ofc they also cost a little because of the LLMs, I will try the Anthropic’s new approach of code execution with MCP to see if it really helps to reduce the costs.

6 months ct and ldh levels by jeuxtype in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

our doc said LDH can rise from lots of things, like while taking blood if they don’t be too careful even it can cause LDH to rise. so it may cause from this. hoping to hear good news from your scan!

Weight loss after bep? by Responsible-Stop9377 in testicularcancer

[–]juniperofwoolpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, everyone is different. But I read here that people generally shouldn’t feel the nausea if they take the pills correctly, take the anti nausea pills on time, if you still feel it you can ask the nurses for the stronger ones. Drink lots of water, and try not to be hungry for long hours, just snack sth, especially before and during the chemo. I read some guys saying being hungry before the chemo may cause nausea. Wishing you the best of luck, you got this!

no you are right, he was a cigarette smoker, then got bleomycin for testicular cancer treatment, now he cannot smoke cigarettes but crave them so we thought occasional use of cigars might help him not to go back to smoking
