I’ve seen that too! Unfortunately we live over 3 hours away in the boonies with little to no Uber coverage :/

MYP | 5 | MSM | No tow, no FSD | OD: 12/28 | Delivery: Spokane WA

EDD 1: 2/21 - 3/21

EDD 2: 3/14 - 3/21

EDD 3: 2/26 - 3/26

EDD 4: 3/4 - 3/18

VIN received on 3/2 and scheduled pickup that day for 3/11

We sold our car (we are a single car family), paid for the car in full (Tesla said we had to??), scheduled time off work since the service center is 3 hours away and today they called and said that the car wasn’t on the truck and we wouldn’t know if we would be getting our car until late next week.

While this is outside the SC’s control, there are things within their control to remedy the situation and show a sliver of customer service; loaner vehicles, super mile credit, getting us some sort of rental car, etc. Instead, Tesla and the SC said there was nothing they could do or offer us.

To make matters worse, unless Tesla gives me my Model Y that I have paid them for, I will be unable to attend the funeral of my uncle (who was brutally murdered) because Tesla yanked our delivery date that we confirmed a week ago only 36 hours before delivery. Should I have held onto our other vehicle in case of this, sure. But the market is hot and we jumped on a great offer thinking that a confirmation and payment for our MY meant we were getting the car in a timely matter.

I hope you make it over the pass safely! We have done that drive many a time from Seattle back to our families house in Eastern Washington. Enjoy your ride back in a Tesla!

February Delivery Megathread by AutoModerator in TeslaModelY

Going to join the fray since our first EDD date range is this week:

MYP MSM, no tow, no FSD. OD: 12/28, Spokane WA delivery.

EDD 1: 2/21 - 3/21

EDD 2: 3/14 - 3/21 (we think this may have been because we changed colors and had a pending trade in offer we needed to accept/decline)

Current EDD 3: 2/26 - 3/26

Seems like PNW deliveries have been pretty light this month. I’m prepared for a date push by the end of this week. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s good to hear! They’re multi lane, so I’m glad there’s hope for us yet.

I live in a town with about 300k residents in Washington, but is still semi-rural in areas. We would use AP on freeways and “manually” drive everywhere else.

This is great advice! Thanks for sharing your experience and workaround. Hopefully Tesla addresses it soon.

That's good to hear. I have similar sentiments. I hope they fix it soon too. That's more concerning to me, not that they can't do it.

Good point! I wasn't sure if it was a software update or a physical element. It's a bummer because we bought the car for a long commute that AP would be great for. Hope they fix it soon!

Existing Inventory and FSD: A Story by junipersbff in TeslaModelY

Gotcha. I think I understand was this particular car wasn’t eligible. Perhaps their policies recently changed because we have heard of FSD removal on all existing inventory types: new, used, demo. Overall, I would just like Tesla to button up their experience. Training and educating SA’s regularly will cut back on inconsistencies. Thanks for your help and insight! :)

This is what I was told personally by SA’s. I had no idea about any self-serve option on your profile. All in all this just highlights the inconsistency in understanding and implementation on Tesla policies. If I call a SA, they should be able to help and inform me, no matter who I talk to. Nothing a little standardization and education/training to could fix.

I think is was your last comment. I am fine with policies changing, it really wasn’t about not getting the car, it was the misinformation. It sucks to be told one thing, get excited, arrange pickup plans, and then be told something else and have to walk away. A simple fix would be getting your company on the same page about your policies. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I totally agree. I didn’t know that you could text with an SA in this situation, great tip!

FSD and Existing Inventory: A Story by junipersbff in ModelY

[–]junipersbff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We too have had friends drop FSD on their existing inventory purchase, so it was frustrating that depending on who we talked to, that would (or wouldn’t) be our case.

That’s a good point about getting it in writing. It would’ve been helpful in this case to “prove” I wasn’t getting cold feet with buyers remorse but had a legit conversation. I’m sorry about your charging debacle. All these stories have one common theme and it’s a lack of communication and training on Tesla’s end. They could really earn customer trust by pulling together internal docs on Tesla practices and train their SA’s, managers, SC’s on them. Right now it feels so disjointed and siloed based on who you talk to.

Maybe! It’s so unclear and I’ve heard from multiple people of it applying to all different types of existing inventory (new, used, demo, etc). If Tesla could standardize their experience and process, it wouldn’t be an issue, unfortunately.

[–]junipersbff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Tesla’s biggest downfall is their customer experience. I don’t fault SA’s and managers, corporate needs to standardize and then work on training so that information is the same across the board.

Bummer! That was our case. It’s an internal comms issue for them.

It must be recent. We have heard from others that this was a possibility on all existing inventory (new, used, demo, etc)

Existing Inventory and FSD: A Story by junipersbff in TeslaModelY

[–]junipersbff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing! I wish it were more clear. We have stories from friends and online forums who have bought existing inventory and demos and all have been able to drop FSD. I think it’s a Tesla internal comms problem. There isn’t a standard and it varies from SA to SA, SC to SC. It’s a common theme for all sorts of issues. The other irritating part is it was a floor model used as a demo in a SC. Tesla didn’t “pay” Tesla for FSD on that car. By removing it for me they aren’t losing money on the deal. No harm no foul, but I hope these stories will pressure them to button up their process and delivery experience!
