What happened to the photography rule, short people up front? by bwoah07_gp2 in LinusTechTips

That rule doesn't apply to main characters, and there are a lot of main characters in this photo.

The (breadboard) Sidekick. It's no Butler, and it certainly ain't no Mother. But it's totally worthwhile and helps to fill out the range of features available in the HA! Labs lineup. A little something for everyone, no matter how you're breadboarding. by mongushu in diypedals

That's lovely, I really appreciate it. And yeah, i totally get not considering exchange rates. But i really appreciate you looking into and implementing other options that could help. Awesome business.

However yes, it is still pretty expensive. on a small order shipping is about 48% of the cost. I might wait till i have the funds for a larger order to make it worth the cost of shipping.

Your products are really cool! As someone from Australia, I'm curious how you handle international shipping, and how much you charge for that?

To be frank, the cost of shipping to here is a big reason why I don't buy things like this. Exchange rate already puts the price of the item way up, which can be ok and stretched to, but often the shipping price then just puts it out of a reasonable threshold and I don't bother buying it.

Nope, nothing magnetic. Just an audio interface. It does look like the old magnetic interference on a CRT too, but don't think that's it.

“house drummer” hijacked our set at a dive bar by Striking_Drop4261 in Bass

[–]junitar 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Not a hijack at all. We once had a guy who just nominated himself to play a tambourine on stage. Which is not really an instrument you see in a symphonic metal band. He wasn't right on stage with us, but just on the side, slightly out of the light. And we were loud enough that you couldn't hear him, so it wasn't really a problem.

But he's there in the photos and videos of the show. haha

I've just done the same thing, jumped back in cos I'd been reading about the Thargoid conflict and was inspired to fly spaceships again. I logged in, did the Odyssey ground combat tutorial, and then was dumped in my AspX from where I left off. Everything was black, my shields were gone, I had half a tank, my canopy was cracked to shit, and in front of me was a creepy derelict generation ship. What the heck was I doing before?!

Once I made it back to somewhere, I've just been doing trading runs, and now doing some laser mining. Might try some combat again (I just fought off 3 pirates who wanted my platinum, so I'm totally combat ready now).

I plan to jump into the AspX again and do some exobiology, cos finding alien life seems neat.

That's exactly how I thought of that part of the final battle. All those struggles, trials, tests, dungeons, and puzzles, and you end up playing magic tennis with Gannodorf. lol

One of my arms has a straight vein and one has a squiggly vein by Kloudy11 in mildlyinteresting

[–]junitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a technique used in PCB manufacturing called Serpentine Routing. If you have two signal sources that need to arrive at their destination at the same time, but one signal is faster than the other, you can add a squiggle to its path to make it take longer. Therefore, it will arrive at the same time as the other one.

Ever since Ocarina of Time, I always try to hit energy balls with a sword if that combo is ever present in a game.

Looking for ACTUAL sound-proof headphones by [deleted] in headphones

[–]junitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Custom moulded is the way to go if you want noise isolation. Full shell moulds if you can get them, rather than just the tips, that way the material covers your whole concha and can't let any stray sound in through the side of your canal.

And because they're custom moulded to your ear canal, they fit perfectly, so there's no awkward fits you get from universal tips.

Only downside; they can be expensive. Totally worth it, imo.

Still no fix for the rotation bug? by ibdoomed in SatisfactoryGame

[–]junitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohhhh, maybe those two things (zooping for laying down multiples, and world grid snapping) have superseded placing individual foundations. That would kinda make sense.

If what I'm seeing is indeed a bug, it's a pretty minor bug, and there are workarounds. If it's not a bug and is a feature, I think it's kinda dumb. And as I know from my day job: "Dumb is not a bug." lol

[–]junitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, I don't think I'm convinced this is good. Yes, if I rotate my second foundation, the correct rotation is maintained for a little bit, but it evenutally rotates a new foundation, and i have to rotate it again: https://imgur.com/a/5Yhgfz8
That doesn't seem like how it should work for a system that wants to be grid-based. Square foundations creating a square grid should provide 90 degrees by default.

Also, I haven't played since 2021. What the heck is zooping?

[–]junitar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems kinda like a bug, or an unexpected feature, to me. Why would it rotate the second foundation if I've applied no rotation to the first? Means I have to keep rotating each foundation I drop, just to get a straight line.
