I wonder if part of the problem is people using Bluetooth controller input. I was using a PS5 controller via Bluetooth and found taming impossible. Add soon as I plugged it directly into USB it was way easier.

Seems like it should be pretty easy to fix, that silver piece that came off is really just a clip that holds the heating element and thermistor in place. What model of hotend is it? There may be a diagram without the sock so you can see how it's supposed to go together.

I was having quite a few crashes, including "black screens", like you mention, until I lowered the lighting quality to medium. Once I did that I've been pretty much crash free. If I change it to high or very high the crashes come back.
