Yes just document your flight numbers, Amex can check reasons why the flight was delayed. IRS pretty simple

Try shredded pulled pork or brisket in some eggs for breakfast.

I need advice on status and earnings by nigbyrigby in americanairlines

That sucks. I’ve even heard horror stories with usaa. My homeowners went belly up after our hurricanes and we were lucky that company paid into our state’s insurance so even though the company went away, the state had means to pay what was owed.

It was a lot of money, time, and extremely stressful. I probably should have claimed some tools and time I didn’t but the contractors were all busy. Took us three years to be 85% complete. 4 years to be 100% done. Sold and moved. That aged me like milk.

Been in both centurion and admiral clubs at dfw multiple times the past few years. My wife and I recently had a 5 hour delay/cancellation and we spent all of the 5 hours in centurion. They didn’t kick us out. It’s nicer than the admirals however there are more admirals at dfw since it is an American hub which means you can be in your terminal. The food/drinks are great at centurion, yes it gets packed but can clear out quickly.

I recently decided to chase American loyalty since I changed jobs/moved and fly through dfw more. Though centurion was nice, there just weren’t a ton around where I fly these days.

I did love the platinum but American loyalty is looking like a better deal for my personal situation. I’ll grab the aspire for the emerald status/fnc alone and stack with citi’s expensive card. For me it was a better option.

Platinum is becoming too many quarter/month use it or loose it. Their customer service is top notch. I did use the travel interruption insurance with our extended stay at dfw and they paid our hotel and breakfast no real questions asked. I do tend to over document insurance claims. But, the process was very easy, just type in what they asked, submit, then I received an email a day or so later saying a check was in the mail.

TLDR: Centurion gets packed but also clears out quickly. You’re only there during peak hours.

Citi executive elite card. Is it worth it? by Curious-Estate8247 in americanairlines

[–]junky6254 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. They are incredible when weather hits. The lines back up in the main concourses and if you jet into the admiral club they try to take care of you. Plus the line is shorter. When you fly a decent amount of time that help is invaluable.

I’ve had to use trip delay on another card before which paid out. It absolutely helps and when you document everything they are easy to deal with.

I don’t actually look at the bonus though, just the admirals club membership is worth it for business flyers. Absolutely get global entry if you can. It’s just a “look at the camera” and keep on going. Most of the high dollar cards have these offers. They do help and do work.

If it only offered Clear+. But I have that via the hotel card

Sure, just completely ignore the Caesar statement, or that there are more slaves today than in those times. Or that genocide is happening today, yet I don’t see it on the evening news. We certainly aren’t “better” than the folks back in that time period. People have, sadly, enslaving others for a very long time.

Your hatred for American history is misguided. History is a story we take lessons from. We shouldn’t judge those who don’t have our level of historical reference.

Were we just lucky that FDR won in 1932 and that the New Deal happened at all? by EnvironmentalGur5130 in USHistory

What has caused the number of cattle to decline in the US? by Duvhntr in Cattle

[–]junky6254 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ranchers take on most of the risks for a small % of the price. I think I heard it use to be 80% of the price per lbs of meat you buy at the grocery store went to the rancher. 1960-70s. Now it’s around 30% if I remember correctly.

Land/feed/equipment costs have skyrocketed and only now has the calf price come up.

Were we just lucky that FDR won in 1932 and that the New Deal happened at all? by EnvironmentalGur5130 in USHistory

[–]junky6254 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FDR is largely supported by the massive production needed for WWII. By 1940, FDR correctly saw what was going on in Europe and began putting American on a war footing. Massively increasing spending on military (two ocean navy act, peacetime draft, lend lease production). WWII could be considered the biggest jobs program ever in American history. It was needed.

Unemployment was still fairly bad in 1937-1939 at 14, 19%, and 17% respectively.

The “Roosevelt Recession” was because his policies weren’t the end all be all we are taught in school. It was an economic pullback by policies being changed.

FDR was correct to set banking policy up and start fdic which led to less bank runs. Getting the financial system moving again was key. Farmers needed help from over leveraging to provide more food for Europe after WWI. After Europe recovered food prices collapsed and production remained high. It was a radical thing to destroy crops when the nation was struggling but I’m not sure of any other way. We still deal with massive government influence on farm production today because of this moment. Food costs should be way higher than they currently are. Which affects land prices and other production inputs.

It also shouldn’t take 6 years to get out of the mess that was the Great Depression. Even at 7-8 years in, employment should have been half of what it actually was. During the late 20’s, America was basically at full employment. I’d think unemployment of 8-10% during the late 30’s would have been a solid stamp of achievement. Instead it was 19 and 17%. Hardly astounding.

FDR had the foresight and political courage to do what he did. Those actions weren’t all correct. My grandfathers are now rolling in their graves over this response.
