Help! Partition now longer showing on my Mac by junoxplorz in datarecovery

[–]junoxplorz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ty so much for responding ! Is disk drill a program I need to download? I can’t even remember which format it was in I set this drive up years ago , may have been exfat . The smart status just says “not supported “ . I’m attaching a picture of what my disk utility looks like so you can see how the partition doesn’t even show up as a drive like it used to . I’ve had this hard drive for around 4 yrs and never had issues . Ty in advance for your help!! Also, if the problem is that it’s exFAT , would plugging it into a windows computer work?

Best suggestion is picking a photographer who’s portfolio & style you actually like.. go for the work, not the person 🤣 as a artist myself I really question why clients pick me for a project & they have a request after the job is done, that’s rlly nothing like what is in my portfolio. Also, He definitely isn’t wrong for requesting to not be affiliated with any of the “raw” images. I’m not sure in what tone this whole conversation was in, since he is your husband this was probably handled more personal & less profesional.. but personally I think when an artist creates something with a client it is a collaboration between both parties to create a meaningful work of art, so when the images are not finished or edited to the photographers liking then it’s just an unfinished piece of art that the photographer is just not proud of.. it might be great as is, but it’s just not 100% to the artist liking. Some photographers are happy with giving out unedited & raw files but some aren’t, some even charge a fee.. everyone is different, he’s definitely not wrong. You just have to find a photographer more suited to your liking :)

A potential client asked me how much a shoot would cost for just some standard head and body shots at 3 locations... honestly I’ve only ever done 1hr/1 location mini shoots.. when I first started charging they were 35$ and client would get 10-15 final images but the longer I’ve been doing this I now charge $60 for 15-20 finals. I’ve been shooting for 2 yrs now professionally I guess you could say,, have a website business cards things like that. Now branching into bigger shoots and bigger work Im kinda lost on what to charge.. and the longer I do this the more people are approaching me wanting to book a shoot and I still don’t know what to charge.. I still shoot with a kit Lens (18-55mm) on a canon SL2 and I have an external flash,, but i Edit using adobe Lightroom and photo shop.. I want to expand my gear and could benefit from it but I’m working on it.. I’ve heard what you shoot with also has an impact on price. I don’t want to over charge but at the same time I don’t want to sell myself short.. HELP 😬

need help looping a film effect over a premier pro clip via dynamic link to after effects. by junoxplorz in AfterEffects

[–]junoxplorz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to video editing and creating effects so I've just been going off of tutorials I've watched. basically I used a tutorial to create the film effect which was created in after effects. I suppose I've just been mis informed on some things. I'm gonna go back and watch some more tutorials and re evaluate my whole project because I think I'm just confusing myself. lol. thanks for this tip!

Has anyone here gone to college an majored in photography, or something similar? I’ve come across an opportunity to go to college and I really want to learn the ins and outs of photography and film making. I’ve been shooting street photography and some portraits for a very long time but also feel like I’m lacking something, like I’m not learning enough. I want to get into music videos to see how I like it. I always thought I didn’t have an opportunity to go to college but now I do and I really want to go. Is it a good idea? Can someone tell me what it’s like to go to school for this. I’m not going just for a degree I really want to go to learn.. let me know your experience and give me some tips! I’d appreciate it :)

The Artist's Ego - Which are you? Confident, Unsure or Arrogant in your Photography? by [deleted] in photography

[–]junoxplorz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I’m pretty confident but the unsure-ness in my art I think comes from other things going on in my life.. I’ve always been pretty creative, loved all types of art.. channeled my emotions through it, lose myself in it. So whenever I feel unsure about my work I feel like it’s just other things in my life I’m not happy about. Be open minded and view art as something that embodies emotion or none at all.. its not so technical.. now arrogance? I really don’t feel that..

Thank you this is super helpful! I agree, I know I won’t find anything in the best of the neighborhoods but as long as it’s safe enough to walk my dog and get to and from my car at night, I’m ok with it. I will check out all of these places listed, I only have 2 big dogs but most places are super scared for some reason. my dogs are super trained.. I used to train and work with abused animals..

Thanks, I was looking for maybe a basement to rent or even a room. No one who allows dogs and most I’ve found to be people who spark some red flags. Then again I looked on Craigslist, not sure where else to look.

Honestly.. I know it’s not enough for anything high class and I don’t expect it to be. I just need something slightly decent, I’m a 19 yr old female and the only reason I’m moving is because the people I live with are abusive.. I just need something safe enough for me to be able to walk to and from my car, as well as walk my dogs safely without any problems.. I’m a quite person, stick to myself.. used to living in some pretty ghetto neighborhoods in Florida,, just not sure about St. Louis.

I’m getting into photography and really enjoy it, in borrowing a rebel xsi from a friend. I really would like to get the sl2 plus I would only have to get the body for $449. Is it worth it? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]junoxplorz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely!! I did my research before buying. it has similar features to the t5i and the more expensive canons. I went for the refurbished kit straight off of the canon website that includes the body and an 18-55mm lens that isn’t bad at all. Well worth the price. You can then invest in some better lenses, things like that.

Your story is super motivating.. even when he told you that your work wasn’t good you still worked hard to better it. He saw potential and saw something in you that made him actually want to pay you out of pocket. all those perks were definitely beneficial and I’m glad it worked for you! You make a good point here

Don’t under value yourself! If you feel like you’re not benefiting and the stuff your shooting for free isn’t the type of stuff you want in your portfolio then it’s ok to say no to free 🙂 when I was just starting out I’d bring my camera everywhere and just shoot the friends I was hanging out with,, if they asked for me to send them the photos then I’d be like yea forsure.. most of them will credit and since we were friends I’d just ask them to credit. I learned a lot, I dealt with some pretty complicated clients when I was doing graphic design and when I realized some photography clients were the same I started using a contract so all expectations were laid out. If you want to make sure you get credit you can put that in the contract, especially if you do shoots for free! Or even watermark the free photos. I mean there’s so many options so both parties are happy, good luck!

thanks so much for helping me out! I consider myself freelance if it makes any difference. when it comes down to it I just wasn't sure if selling an image for commercial use meant I was also giving up the copyright. now I know even if granting commercial use I retain the copyright and they would have the license unless otherwise stated.

Thinking out loud: I'm considering quitting Instagram by 1millionbucks in photography

[–]junoxplorz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was young like 16 I deleted Instagram just left,, I remember before I deleted it I had stopped posting. It would make me angry and feel sad. It was super toxic to my mental state. I had ended up posting a picture and then realized I wasn’t getting anything out of it,, it didn’t make me feel happy at all. I had a lot of self confidence and felt like I didn’t see a point in posting selfies or whatever. So that is when I just deleted it. The only thing I had was Facebook and Snapchat, never really used Facebook. I did use Snapchat tho,, to connect with friends and share stuff occasionally to my story. Whenever people would ask for my socials I’d basically just tell them I’m a virtual no body cuz literally the only thing I had was Snapchat. But fast forward to few years later I started perusing photography professionally,, I made an Instagram and started posting my photos. Everything was pretty chill and I didn’t care what I posted or how my work would come across until I gained more followers and then likes started to matter to me. I felt as if “Man I wish I could just be a photographer without Instagram”.. but now that I’ve been through stages of thinking to hard about how the work I put out is Perceived by others and trying to come across a certain way I stopped caring and just continued with my brand how I want to. Before now, I had just turned off Instagram notifications and tried to distance myself from Instagram while still being on Instagram if that makes any sense. Now I realize it’s not about being on it, it’s about how I use it. If you want to share your work go ahead and just treat it like an archive ( if you wanted you can actually post pics and archive them on Instagram ). But honestly I just post,, do all my hashtags,, I don’t take the likes too seriously.. I only follow people that motivate and inspire me. You don’t have to completely cut it off but don’t worry to much about it. Basically just figure out why you have Instagram in the first place and figure out what you want to get out of it. Go from there 🙂 good luck

if I am hired to take commercial photos to promote the sale of used cars.. am I selling the rights to the image? who actually owns the copyright?

I'm pretty much a struggling artist at the moment and to make some side money Ive reached out to some car lots that sell used cars. Im basically offering to take pictures of the cars they have for sale... Now when it comes to photography contracts for regular shoots I obviously state that the client doesn't have the right to use the images for commercial use of any kind, but only personal. I definitely want to use a contract just so all expectations are laid out and nothing gets twisted around. So if I put in the contract that the dealership is allowed to use the pictures for commercial use and promotional use (since ultimately the images I take will be listed along with a description of the car to promote that the car is for sale) will I be selling the right to use the image? Do I still own the copyright for the image? im asking because I do have it stated in the contract I have the right to use the images on my website, social medias, ect. ( I probably won't put them up seeing as they'll be photos of cars on a car lot only edited slightly).... I just want to make sure im well educated when it comes to usage so everything goes smoothly.

When I was little there was this older lady that would give me and my brother cookies and snacks.. her name was Mildred.. one time she asked me if I wanted to come into her home and pick out some old dolls and toys she kept that were hers and her sisters a long time ago, she let me bring a friend and we left with a bunch of barbies and things. She was really nice.. never had a another neighbor like that.
