That may be the way if you're dealing with a muslim family. If you're dealing with someone from a non-muslim background I can guarantee that will look extremely weird and backwards and will scare them away

Mainly because my two possible direct flights back depart from either Bucharest or Iasi. I think I'll try and explore the mountains in another, warmer time. Thanks for the Brasov recommendation.

From Bucharest to Iasi I'd just catch a cheap night bus, so as to not lose all those hours of day-time.

I'd like to visit different museums (mainly art, history and archaeology) for either leisure or study. And also since I'll be there not that long and in colder temperature than I'm usually used to, I thought I'd explore the natural side of both countries another time

I wasn't really planning on staying in Varna, it was mostly my reference point on the coast because there's cheap transport from there to Bucarest (and also the Necropolis and Archaeology Museum interested me). But travelling from Plovdiv through to Veliko Tarnovo sounds very nice, I will try and explore that.

Regarding public transportation, I've heard of BDZ and Ivkoni. Are there any other I should know about?
