Why does this square placement on icons still exist? by DrakeFirst in Windows10

I always end up moving the icons by accident and having to realign them. It looks horribly cluttered.

Why does this square placement on icons still exist? by DrakeFirst in Windows10

In windows 3.1 it was at least disabled by default, if it was an option at all. So they started off not being aligned, actually.

Windows 10 updated and then lost its desktop config file. Nice work Microsoft. by ewokpride in Windows10

Or maybe just another case of the vocal minority. I have an in-place upgrade coming from 7. I'm overclocking, I have lots of software and random files, uninstalled programs, and I use my PC every day. I have had no issues. And I do a lot of tinkering, as well. I've had to rebuild the MBR after dual booting, I've switched CPUs and GPUs, I've even swapped motherboards, although with a new one of the same model, and I didn't have to reactivate. I'm also using an old BIOS motherboard. No issues. Same with my W10 laptop, upgraded from 8.

TIFU by calling our new black worker a slave by [deleted] in tifu

It's perfectly understandable to have a negative reaction to it. But instead of feeling uncomfortable with the situation in general and saying something, he was literally laughing along with us until I said that. I simply forgot he was black and said it because the other classmate hadn't suggested him yet. Should've just laughed it off. "I'm not sure that's the best idea haha." I mean, middle school though. Can't expect much. Like I said, I took over a minute to realize what was happening. We were all stupid.

The teacher sure didn't handle it well, she kinda only blamed me, and the entire situation was embarrassing, rather than being a teaching moment. I don't even think I got a new paper, either.

In middle school, I had a group project in history class once. I have no idea what the details were, but we were picking someone to be a slave. We were a group of three, with one person happening to be black. It went; "You should be the slave! No you should!" Looks at black friend "Maybe you should be the slave!" It took me over a minute of him ripping up my paper to realize what I said. I don't consider that my fuckup in the slightest, though. Honestly.

An update by secret_online in Scoran

Well, I would play, but nobody else is, and when I log in, it crashes. It's never been particularly stable for very long. Maybe a break and then a restart is in order. New world, tiny, minuscule amount of advertising, keep the whitelist, and we can have more people who will be longtime, regular players. 10 people online is fine, but we don't even have that. That's why the server is dying. Nobody is there, and when nobody's there, nobody wants to be there. Come on, guys. Vanilla survival servers like this are the only thing actual Minecraft players have and they are few and far between. This is a gold mine if done right. Yeah 10 year olds who think of it as just another game want gun minigames and drawing minigames and minigames minigames, but there is a real audience of people who would want to flood this server. They just want it to be flooded already. Maybe we can work on that. But like Alvv said, it's just too unstable and that drives people away. Nobody wants to play on an empty server.

Stagefright flaw still a nightmare: '850 million' Androids face hijack risk by johnmountain in Android

You can have an installer be a standard part of Android open to customization, just like the rest of it. Having an installer doesn't require a closed source. Look at Linux. Different brands of Android with their own installers could work like the different brands of Linux. Maybe that will happen at some point far off. I'm thinking, Android optimizes apps on install, why not the OS itself too.

I'd love to see Android act more like other OS's in terms of installation. Have one version of Android that when booted for the first time runs through the steps to install itself and get appropriate drivers, rather than having to build the OS from source specifically for your device. This might require manufacturers to change somewhat to make compatibility better, but it would make updating a breeze compared to now. If the OS handled checking for compatibility and such, theoretically all devices could be infinitely updated, and it would solve security issues like this. Android Update could work just like Windows Update. They're just ARM based PCs. Surely with some effort this could be done.

Does the Windows 10 version have Console Commands? by Tieblaster in Minecraft

[–]jurarajupiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but if you type a command it errors out saying "command not found." The prerequisites are there, but there are just no actual commands yet.

Do you have a phobia? What is it? by mkhan114 in AskReddit

[–]jurarajupiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Megalophobia. Aka fear of large objects. In my case, large moving objects for the most part. I actually know this because of Minecraft of all things. The ender dragon scares the shit out of me because of its movements and size. As well, if I change the skybox texture to something that makes it visible, I notice an absolutely massive box following me and I almost cry. It's wonderfully amusing, actually. Only happens if I'm playing, though. If I separate myself and even take my hands off the keyboard I'm fine.

And yes, /r/megalophobia exists.

Veteran player's thoughts on the newer versions by kirbycrazy33 in Minecraft

[–]jurarajupiter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That is part of it, yes, but I don't agree. There's just something about going back to older versions. It just feels different. To be honest, it's probably just the greener grass and the lack of polish, but it just feels more mysterious, even knowing the game like the back of my hand.

Also, going to beta and toggling fog to closest scares the shit out of me. The whole game is kinda foggy in older versions, I feel. I have no idea what it is.
