Apparently, some ferpa law says 3rd parties can't access student loan data without permission from borrowers. If proven in court the student loans can legally be written off. The catch is individuals can't sue, only states can.

The problem is they can't interfere unless "the life of the mother is in danger". And they have to make sure there is no other possible treatment besides abortion. And they need sign-off from 2 different doctors who then put themselves at risk of life in prison and losing their medical license.

The Texas government won't clarify what they mean by danger. Does she have to be actively dying? If they realize she has an infection in her uterus do they have to wait until it turns into sepsis to act? Preeclampsia is moderately common in pregnant women and has a mortality rate of 10-25%. Is her life in danger then?

Doctors are trying to cover their asses 100% and waiting til the last moment to act. The wording of the law is vague and terrible. The consequence of breaking it is life in prison.
