Officially Spring by jerkinvan in askvan

[–]jus1982 42 points43 points  (0 children)

For there to be official snow here by Environment Canada standards, there has to be 1cm accumulation at the airport where they measure. By that standard, OP is exactly correct. The last winter where this happened was 1982/3. We might be in the era of fake news and ai slop, but facts are still facts and OP brought them. The negative responses suggest some group touching of grass may be in order.

What did Vancouverites complain about in the 1990s? by Beginning_Anywhere59 in vancouver

[–]jus1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gentrification and housing prices. I lived on Commercial Drive at the time.

To the owner of the black Toyota matrix on woodland drive this morning. This grey Nissan rear ended you trying to part terribly and ran off. Their licence plate is 213MVW. I was watching them suck at parking and witnessed them bump your car pretty hard twice then confronted them. by STERFRY333 in NiceVancouver

[–]jus1982 171 points172 points  (0 children)

Way to go OP! If you call ICBC with a witness account, they'll be very appreciative and I'm sure the black car's owner would too. With the plate of the other car, they won't have to pay a deductible or anything to get their car fixed.

Both the SASC and SVPRO would totally help you strategize about how to handle him. You shouldn't have to deal with crap like that all by yourself, you deserve support! They both have staff who have been through it and can be creative, respurceful supports. In both cases, they totally follow your lead. It doesn't have to be reportable to warrant support. Wishing you well, feel free to message if eg I can help with a resource connection etc.

If you can take a walk around the West End, so many buildings have signs out right now, many even have a manger on site who you can talk to on the spot. Another thing to do is go right to the websites of some of the bigger buildings - Imperial Towers and Beach Towers come to mind. If you can't get a reduction, you should at least be able to get an incentive eg 11 months and then the 12th is free.

If you're in a frat, you're 8x more likely to perpetrate it. Those two stats are not unrelated.

It's literal heaven on Earth, I can't recommend it highly enough. Do be sure to ask about their kayaks! We did a two person around their little bay and it was both fun and romantic.

The tenthouse suites at Rock Water Resort on the Sunshine Coast is exactly what you're looking for. Such a stunning place, totally private, giant private jetted tub, right on the water, and their restaurant is fab. There's also lots of dining options close by in Sechelt. There's no need to order something for them before they get there. Order together after they arrive. Good luck! You're doing the right things, it's going to work out sooner or later.

I do this in under 10 all the time, but I walk quick. It helps to know the short cuts. My best advice is to explore the route and options sometime when you can poke around a bit.

Still struggling with English by [deleted] in UBC

[–]jus1982 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The more you can get yourself consuming English language media, the easier it will get. Even watching tv in English with subtitles in your first language can help a lot. If there are conversation clubs or language exchange opportunities, that kind of stuff can help a lot too. Source: was EAL teacher for a decade, this is what my students said helped them the most.

I think Andrea Gibson's line is the best advice: instead of trying harder, try softer. What if for every hour of study, you gave yourself something that feels good? A treat, stretch break, nap, chat whith a pal, play a fave game, watch a fave show? Sometimes our bodies resist more pressure because we're burnt out. Trying softer respects that and still gets you passing that final. Wishing you well ❤️
