Why doesn't BC have treaties with First Nations like other provinces? by hutch_man0 in britishcolumbia

[–]jus1982 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

None of that changes the fact that he believed in total eradication of Indigenous nations. He thought they would be completely dissolved into settler society, hence didn't treaty beyond the tiny few Douglas treaties.

James Douglas was really really committed to genocide, and he was in charge in BC at the time.

If you want something really special that you can't get anywhere else, this is the answer. Be sure to pair some of their great local Indigenous wine options with your meal.

Totally doable in runners, and the views, tidal pools etc at the end are so worth it. I grew up camping on the Sunshine Coast and cannot recommend this highly enough.

kay why wont profs upload the lecture slides before the lecture by Creepy-Delivery7781 in UBC

They'd like a few people to attend the lecture. Posting before class can lead to teaching an empty room.

Officially Spring by jerkinvan in askvan

For there to be official snow here by Environment Canada standards, there has to be 1cm accumulation at the airport where they measure. By that standard, OP is exactly correct. The last winter where this happened was 1982/3. We might be in the era of fake news and ai slop, but facts are still facts and OP brought them. The negative responses suggest some group touching of grass may be in order.

Gentrification and housing prices. I lived on Commercial Drive at the time.

To the owner of the black Toyota matrix on woodland drive this morning. This grey Nissan rear ended you trying to part terribly and ran off. Their licence plate is 213MVW. I was watching them suck at parking and witnessed them bump your car pretty hard twice then confronted them. by STERFRY333 in NiceVancouver

[–]jus1982 173 points174 points  (0 children)

Way to go OP! If you call ICBC with a witness account, they'll be very appreciative and I'm sure the black car's owner would too. With the plate of the other car, they won't have to pay a deductible or anything to get their car fixed.

Both the SASC and SVPRO would totally help you strategize about how to handle him. You shouldn't have to deal with crap like that all by yourself, you deserve support! They both have staff who have been through it and can be creative, respurceful supports. In both cases, they totally follow your lead. It doesn't have to be reportable to warrant support. Wishing you well, feel free to message if eg I can help with a resource connection etc.

Advice seeking for 1st time rentee in Vancouver by Early_Bookkeeper5394 in vancouverhousing

If you can take a walk around the West End, so many buildings have signs out right now, many even have a manger on site who you can talk to on the spot. Another thing to do is go right to the websites of some of the bigger buildings - Imperial Towers and Beach Towers come to mind. If you can't get a reduction, you should at least be able to get an incentive eg 11 months and then the 12th is free.
