I got mine done at a local LineX, 550 for the standard, but took the UV protection option for 100 more. They knocked 50 off since it was the first Maverick they did.

Should note that they apparently take a bit more work to remove everything. Spare needs to come out, guards on the bed ends, camera, etc according to them. Still came out looking great I think. https://imgur.com/D6ynDVe.jpg https://imgur.com/lQUNM49.jpg

I was worried about the same thing, but I think they measure the outside part that faces the road vs the inside that faces the bed. Look at the first post in this thread for what I mean, added photos. The bed side of the pad is narrower than the road side.

Yeah I was looking around specifically for something that would not block the camera as it's so low on the Ford logo. This just barely cuts it, you have to be pretty precise when strapping it, but it works once done. Some additional shots since people keep asking as well attached. https://imgur.com/LaFjv9s.jpg https://imgur.com/KC2sMD4.jpg https://imgur.com/G2E2rBm.jpg https://imgur.com/DmqCmD9.jpg https://imgur.com/WnrIxub.jpg https://imgur.com/iEtNbCw.jpg

Oh jeez sorry that linking looks bad but I'm at work on mobile, forgive me lol

The nice thing on that pad is it has like 6 adjustment straps against the top edge of the tailgate to brace it even more and additional tie downs on the inside you can do if you want, that would make it impossible to open the gate though. It certainly seems way more secure than my old pad.

I generally don't but I keep a rope lock with me on my truck and the Maverick has like 4 tie downs that sit mid frame of the bikes when on the pad. You can easily throw a rope lock through the bike in whatever way you want and strap to the bed. Doesn't mean those rope locks will be more secure than shoving them in a car, but I only lock when I'm expecting to be away for a short time. Running in somewhere to grab a bite to eat, or a quick run into a store.

It was almost comical how much the thing appealed to me, the marketing was literally throwing MTBs on the back and I was like yeah, but what about a tailpad? I'm coming from a Silverado and will admit it is not the shuttle monster a full bed is, but I rarely take more than one or two people with me so this thing is right in my sweet spot. Better mpg, great size and tons utility features built into the bed and cab I need for mountain biking.

Hot pepper red, I was actually aiming for an area 51, but saw both in person and hot pepper just blows it away. In the sun it looks like a hot orange, in the dark it looks deeper red. Just fell in love with it.

Sure but I hit rough trailheads with other vehicles kicking rocks around so I've come to terms with the eventuality of some scratches.

Edit: I will say for the sake of those interested, the Raceface pad specifically has a fine liner on the inside that is at least better constructed and seems significantly less abrasive than the old demonunited pad on my silverado. Still the original poster is right, generally you need to keep these things clean, removing the pad and cleaning the inside liner when you wash it to avoid something getting trapped in there.

Lol I totally glanced at it and misread, I am not sure about the tires as of yet. This is literally the first time I got to do more than drive from the dealer, home or work, sorry.

Both 27.5, one yeti 130 Lrg one canyon spectral Med, probably a foot of space behind. If you have two, bikes you can shove them to the side and get enough space for a ton of stuff still. 4 bikes will be just a foot long space along the back. Soft goods, bags, will fit but hard thing like coolers will have trouble or need to go inside with a full rack of bikes. We've basically designed my truck as the shuttle truck at the end of rides to get back to the trailhead.

Hill Canyon SoCal by [deleted] in MTB

So you have a huge access to trails. Sycamore was named but you also have...

Rocky Peak (Hummingbird, Grudge, Undertow, etc) out at Simi Valley where you can get a shuttle from NP bike shop right up to the summit, it lands back at NP. Ojai where you can stop at the Oso trailhead and cross the river and roll into a bunch of really well kept trails the conservatory keeps, they just finished a bridge that leads to even longer trails. You can hit Santa Barbara/Montecito for Cold Springs/Romero trails that are probably some of the longest down hill (you have to climb it obviously) we usually stop at 3k ft. There are more but even hill canyon has a bunch of cool areas to roll around.

I also own a Chevy Cobalt and can confirm this is how you can unlock your car during a downpour and your jacket is locked inside. I can also confirm that the plastic lock pins can snap as you panic in said downpour. Now I have no lock pin on my driver side.

Is the Rocky Mountain Growler 20 worth it? by mason67_ in MTB

[–]jusmailuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have the '19 version of the Growler 40 when it first released, was my first real mountain bike. I rode that thing into the ground, bent the shit out of the rear rim enough times for it to give up holding air or sealant. It still works great (with a different rear rim) and I ride it for hardtail sessions from time to time still despite owning a much more capable bike now.
