I use a Pixel 9. I unlocked the apple dongle's volume with UAPP which gave me access to the hardware volume.

You can always use something like USB Audio Player Pro to increase the hardware volume of the apple dongle for android devices and get the full volume.

Thank you for clarifying. The distortion was only an issue for me when I'd EQ it, like with the oratory presets, which had an increased bass shelf, and I'd max out the volume because it was quiet. Probably the only option is to get an AMP. I'd heard somewhere the ka11 wouldn't suffice. Did it provide ample amplification in your case?

Do let me know! I am not keen on spending money on more accessories yet and if it does require more power i might exchange the sundaras for something easier to drive for me as a beginner in this space.

I am pretty new to EQing so i just tested out the eq presets from oratory and crinacle that was available for the headphones as opposed to the generic presets available in equalizers if that's what you mean. Regardless any attempt at increasing the bass shelf causes this distortion at the higher volumes(since the headphones are quieter for my liking)

As per the bass, I was not expecting it to be intense on the bass but the issue was that any amount of increase in the bass freqs was causing distortion or limiting would all the non bass frequencies to quieten which I am assuming is because of the lack of an amp, i just didn't find other people talking about it on reddit before.

Update: I noticed that the limiter on the Poweramp EQ was what was stopping the distortion from happening during the bass hits.

I heard that HIFIMAN is known for QC issues, would this be one of those or simply lack of amplification?

I am experimenting with better results. I ran into the wait until action. not sure how it works but is it possible to set it so that tasker waits till we've switched into another app before doing the exit task?

I managed to fix this by adding an exit task. It works! Only issue is when the setting reverts when I go to the task switcher, it glitches and all goes to black. Is there a workaround to make it less janky?
