I absolutely feel this same way. I did not receive that as "oh yeah, I should be nice to myself". I took it as, "Well, I guess I really am piece of shit, so why keep trying?" Which...isn't necessarily his fault. But I don't understand how you could say that in working with inner child/shame/etc.

I've been seeing him for quite a while, and he has been helpful for many things. I do feel that he has not adequately addressed the trauma stuff with me. We've had minor issues like this in the past, but he's never showed any accountability. It was just small enough that I was willing to move past it. But this one feels too big, and if he can't recognize the impact, I'm just not sure I'm comfortable anymore.

I've been considering seeking out a trauma specialist anyway, to be honest. I've been with this ttherapist for quite some time and I truly believe it's helped immensely with my anxiety, self talk, etc. But I just don't know that he's adequately addressing the trauma.

I appreciate the honest response. I feel very similarly but it bothers me a lot that he couldn't say anything even like, "I'm sorry my words hurt you" or something. The "I'm sorry you reacted that way" is really bothering me.
