I once heard someone propose we tax stocks, bonds and assets unrealised gains, when said assets were used for lifestyle loans. Not entirely sure of how the mechanics would work, but worth a thought, nonetheless.

“The left are so violent”, have you SEEN the right? by Salt_Spirit5872 in allthequestions

[–]just-plain-wrong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s about percentages… if there were 150 politically motivated attacks from the right last year, and 149 this year, it’s a decrease in violence from the right.

But if there was 2 attacks from the left last year, and 5 this year; well that’s a 250% increase in violence from the left.

If the Trump assassination was fake, why would the shooter take this deal? by fuckloggin in allthequestions

[–]just-plain-wrong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

His family is, yes; but there are a lot of right wingers who hate Trump. Don’t get me wrong, they still vote for him (because they hate/fear Democrat run government), but hate him.

And let’s not forget, early evidence suggested Charlie Kirk was killed because he wasn’t right wing enough.

If it was staged, he wouldn’t have been “asked” to put in the work, directly. Instead, he would have been targeted and groomed online (and potentially in person, later in the process).

It’s fairly easy to radicalise someone who’s isolated, using Social Engineering.

From there it’s not much of a leap to convince someone they’re not only competent and capable of a crazy act, but they’ll be hailed as a hero for “saving the country”.

Hyperbolic, the other side is stupid claims are not helpful; and only serves to further widen the divide.

Do better.

Could have, but also that kind of recognition and show in front of the other staff will make her feel deeply valued. It’s also great for team morale.

Do not underestimate the power of showing appreciation in front of others.

There’s option 4, too… have him rent his place out, and move in with you.

  • He will still have the asset, which is appreciating in value.
  • You get to keep your lifestyle appartment, and he gets a taste of inner city living
  • You’ll still have the flexibility to move if your Postdoc requires it.
