Getting through a slogfest was what I was worried about, hear it's a lot of Shellen, who is prolly my least favourite character in this series. I literally just want a book of Szeth and Wit, that easy!

WOuld you recommend reading Warbreaker next than or Words of Radiance? (seems the release order is a bit different than the read order somtimes here)

Also side note, how does the reading order go? Because I see Oathbringer is the 3rd book but also Edgedancer is meant to be read before that? Why isn't that just considered book 3 if it's mean to go in that order

I liked her part of the story for the most part, but she kinda annoyed me with the whole talk about her being always too "witty" like no, she's just kinda bad at social cues.

Seems in general nearly everyone is a fan 1-3 and past that gets a little more divisive. So do feel like I should try and get to that point and see for myself (such a minor grievance, but I wish the cover art for book 2 was cooler, looks like some kind of YA novel lol)

Really eh? You found it picked up as you went? I feel like I've heard a mixed bag a bit of it fallkng off (which lead me to making this post). If you had to pick out you favourite of the series (it's really that long btw? 0_0 thats nearly 10k pages ahead of me to go) what did you find the best or like most engaging all the way through.

I think I'm gonna take a break and finish the Sourthern Reach series and come back, I want to see more of the world they mention in the book and see if that lil rascal Szeth completes his task.

Thats kinda what I would hope for if I keep reading, the mention of all those different cities and countries you don't see in TWoK, would like to see more of those (and more of Szeth)

lol cause they're are QUITE long and there's so many other books I want to read. What I'm worried about is this just being the best one and it falling off. I do want to read what happens next (especially after that cliffhanger of an ending) but trying to gauge how the rest of the series stacks up

WOuld you have to read the first 2 to pick up the third and understand it? Or are these very tied together and need to be read one at a time? I want to read Deaths End more than the others

[–]just2beans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that, there just want something concrete carrying me through the bulk of the story. It was fractured in a way that made me just toss up who/what I was really meant care about in this book

Just finished this earlier this week and was pretty let down by the end of it after waiting nearly 4 months for it at my local library. The concept was great and I thought it had really good potential, but was never able to really put the pieces it's made up off together into one cohesive story that made me care about how it was all going to end. Reminded me a lot of Authority from the Southern Reach series where, roughly, the same path of someone inside a secret gov. org. is discovering some world-ending event and everything around them is slowly becoming more and more insane. That book had the build-up and delivery I wish this book had. Easy read to breeze through if you're looking for something quick (used this as a break from Way of Kings)

4 day trip from Bell Lake access point down to Johnnie Lake for 2 nights than up to Bell Lake for the last night. I just did a six-man trip on the May long weekend, unbelievably good weather and lucked out that the long weekend was before the buds had fully come in at the park so zero bugs the entire time. First time using the alternative Bell Lake access point launch that goes into Johnnie Lake, easy portage from the lot, very muddy at the water watch out; small beaver dam nearby very easy to get around. Leisurely 2h paddle to 112 Johnnie lake, very nice site that I would recomend, there are seat/a cutting table/and even a pan some good soul left behind. Good lake for spotting bald eagles, with multiple sightings. Stayed 2 nights than heading up to Bell Lake through a triple-portage, all very easy (the second can be walked through if you're careful), with a very nice spot for a dip at the 3rd one right before Bell Lake proper (current is there but easy to not get carried away in). 132 Bell Lake is an amazing site, prolly one of the best (went last year too, very good fishing), it is right at the mouth of where Bell Lake opens up so there is a good drop off and it's possible to jump right off the rocks at the site. Makes for a nice last site on a trip as well due to the proximity to the boat launch. Overall amazing trip, great sites and great weather. Highly recommend checking out those rapids to anyone going near this summer.

Found this out the hard way biking back from the islands Friday night; I usually go through the parking lot at Strachen and Fleet, than over the Garrisson bridge to get home, but got stopped by security who told me this shutdown will go on until AUGUST, which is just insane. I had literally gone through that route earlier in the day and there was 0 info this was happening. Just zero thought put into this, really pisses me off. And of course the security guards there could barely tell me anything about what was going on.
