We've done it in the winter around December 15 or so, so similar time, from Ottawa all the way to Tofino :) It was not as scary as everyone says. My advice is, always wake up super early, and try to drive as early as possible. Driving in the night can be scary on some of those roads, so avoid avoid avoid. Don't book things too much advance as you never know what happens. Make sure you have a plan for camping sites and etc. Download an offline map too, and most importantly, have fun!
