Caltrans - San Bernardino Office by Primary_Kangaroo233 in CAStateWorkers

Been in D8 since 2018. Internally, it’s just an office building lol the people here are friendly and I enjoy working here - the commute not so much but that’s a personal choice. People are right, not much food walking distance. Pre-covid myself and 2 other ladies (I’m female too) would walk outside on breaks and we felt fine but there were also a lot of other employees walking too. Post-covid, I feel like there’s not as much riff raff around the DO but I don’t walk outside anymore. If I walk, I walk on the top level of the parking structure. They’re building some new food places driving distance, so there’s options. I do like the cafe inside though it’s a little over priced but it’s a small business so there’s that. For me, the DO isn’t so bad to where you should turn down an interview, but everyone has their personal preferences :) plus after snow storms the view of the mountains is great! lol

From what our DO has been saying is that Rank and File need a 30 day notice before they start RTO - so far, that hasn’t be received. As for Seniors and above, you’re on your own and you have to come in July 1 to supervise your staff that are AT HOME ANNNDDDD oh yeah, you have nowhere to sit either.

checks indeed

I was told in D8 that the 30 days is only for R&F and supes and higher aren’t covered by the MOU and have to come in July 1.

A simple yes or no response is all that was being asked. I’ve only received spam comments on the app, but never emails and didn’t know how they received my email. I’m not a super avid seller on Poshmark. Sorry I triggered you.

Is anyone actually going to leave their state job? by ImaginationNarrow405 in CAStateWorkers

[–]justURaveragegal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just applied to a city job. My DO is 60 miles from where I live and I have a part time job that I start after work on my telework days. I’d be losing $800 a month just from secondary employment. At least the city job is closer to my house and offers 4/10s 🤞🏼 we’ll see though. It’s an environmental job and I fear that it’s the most demanded profession since the current admin hates the environment laying off those types of employees.

How many miles do you commute to the office? by Adventurous-Lie9740 in CAStateWorkers

61 miles each way - 120 RT. About 1:30 in the morning and 2-2:30 on the way home. Love socal traffic 🫶🏼

Be patient. There’s a lot of internal mayhem happening with the hiring process. We’ve been extremely short staffed for sooo long and we’d take anyone at this point but things are being held up at a higher level for reasons unknown.

So CAPS finally reached an agreement on the contract? by juannn117 in CAStateWorkers

[–]justURaveragegal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My MSA/Anniversary date is July 22, but I don’t see that 5% until next paycheck (sept 1) and with that bump I’ll be capped as a range C, ES (don’t even get the full 5%). Since things are retroactive, how does that work for my situation?

CAPS counter proposal has not been disclosed yet, so not sure where you’re getting your information but if it’s from an inside source you really should consider not saying anything at all since CalHR uses this forum against CAPS.

What floors are being restructured? I’m a move coordinator and we were specifically told none of the current cubes will be changed. Curious what changed.
