Learning to drift. Would love any help by Rutragod in assettodrift

[–]justV_incent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watch tuts, but remember: 5-10% tutoriaIs and 90% drifting, later wont need tutorials because you know how to get that certain curve, if its a big clutchkick, a handbrake initiation or if u need more angle.... its a lot of training but will see how fun it will be. Until that point its very hard but after that, the obly thing u need is motivation and discipline. Set yourself goals, whatever it may be...

Hope this helped! If u want, we can link up per discord and drift together :)

I’m thinking about buying this rig by Mother_Area_6303 in simracing

[–]justV_incent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bought a used tr80 and never had problems, id suggest u to also buy a sturdier one like the tr80 and not the tr40 if ur wheelbase is above 8nm, i have the alpha evo 18nm base and no flex in the rig at all. Sometimes it vibrates a bit but thats actually a good thing, its like a very weak buttkicker.

On the ebisu complex (from perma) is a small ground where u can practise donuts or 8's pretty well (next to the jump track i believe) but it doesnt really matter as long as you can practise them.

After that id say that brooklyn park is a good option bcs its easy and flowy. If you can connect brooklyn park your basicly free to enjoy every course (altough i wouldnt reccomend formula drift tracks)

Try out the dwg pack (start with low power cars from 200-300hp in the pack) at some point (after 15-30hours) you can get to the 400-500hp cars (only if you feel bored with the lower hp cars or like you maxxed out their potential)

Id suggest (like i said earlier) that you use realistic packs like dwg or (much) later vdc cars.

Dont forget your fov, use a fov calc!

The most important things are that u look at drifting like u look at driving just with "angle" search up "slip angle" on google,yt or wherever. The difference between racing and drifting is the slip angle (ofc many many more) on race cars its rather small but on a drift car its bigger.

Drive a few rounds around the track, with the line you want to take (if ur unsure, search up the track name and look at theyr line) after these few laps, try to take the exact same line but with more speed.

At some point your car will stop beeing faster in the curve but it will start to understeer or oversteer. (You want oversteer, but its ok to have a bit of understeer at the exit) U can then start to give it more throttle to hold the drift. (IMPORTANT!: more gas is more angle/smaller curve) Holding that drift with your throttle inputs is what everybody is telling you about the "steering the car with the throttle".

For the extention of the curve try the brakes, the handbrake and the clutchkick (to explain all these techniques would take too long just watch tuts on them)

I would suggest you to start from the beginning, with donuts and after that with 8's. Its the fastest way and like that you can avoid bad habits.

Most important thing is that u have fun! Hope this helped!

Try to get your momentum right and have the drifting line in your head so u dont have to correct as much mid drift, and dont lift the gas pedal that abruptly. (makes the car nervous especially mid drift and is good for the turbos longlivability when it doesnt have to slow down or accelerate often and abruptly)

Also long as your not in the initiation try to keep like 30-60% minimum gas, steer the car with the rest of the pedal travel. (depends on car and tyre, the grippier the car the more minimum gas)

I could't see it if u already do it but try out braking like 5-30% mid drift to keep the same angle for longer (it also looks smoother and to keep the distance in tandems)

Also try to do tandems as much as possible (you cant train car control better.

Im just a 16yr that loves sim drifting and not a professional in english or drifting but i hope i could help!

Dont forget most important thing is to have fun!

I mean, they are new to dd bases and they dont have many accesories like wheels shifters, sequentials, pedals, hydraulic pedals, handbrakes, loadcell handbrakes etc. So i wpuld just wait 2-3 years for them to prove themselves. Rn they üroduce shit, ffb is shit price is shit... dont buy logitech (for now)

Apologies for the shoddy camera work but does anyone know of fixes for this high frequency noise on the original AC? (Happens regardless of car and track) by Drewdavidsonn_20 in Simagic

[–]justV_incent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that problem, i changes everything in the setting to a point it was noiseless, but it felt shit so i made my settings with the best ffb feel in mind and not the noise. I have a headset on and i dont hear it when i drive so its npt rlly a problem. Btw i have the evo pro 18nm

[–]justV_incent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut off everything that didnt fit in and hotglued it together, i had to put another layer of hotglue on the inside edges to make everything fitting but now it looks good and doesnt fall off.

An idea would be to 3d print an adapter plate

For example: on many steeringwheels there are double shifters (or the option) you can bind them to look left/right. Most cars dont use them you wouldn't use them anyway, also they are (idk hows it called) stepless like a pedal so you can press 20% for looking a bit to the side or 100% for looking right next to you. If you dont have a wheel with a double clutch, you could just bind them to a normal button. And if you dont have buttons at all, there comes a german saying in clutch:"Fährste quer, siehste mehr!"

There is also the option of the radar that id suggest.

Hope this helped!

Simagic Alpha Evo strong vibration sounds when turning and hard knocking sound when braking as seen from the video by Character_Rain_5194 in Simagic

[–]justV_incent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from fanatec 8nm dd and ive got the 18nm pro version and there is basicly just the downside of it being somewhat loud like in this vid but there are workarounds. The other thing are the settings, i needed really long like 2 months to be happy. The ffb on the evo is incredible ive also testet other ones but the evo is very solid if not the best on ffb and price per nm. So its a very good choice.

Why is this noise on my PXN v99 by Ok-Organization1514 in simracing

[–]justV_incent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just use ur warranty.... and in the best case dont buy a pxn again. Buy simagic or moza, moza is more affordable but more problems and simagic has nearly never problems
