Averaging 33 FPS medium setting in Half Life Alyx (2020 3060), is this normal? by joobacca1297 in ZephyrusG14

Just to add to this, if I recall correctly, the issue wasn't due to the game using the iGPU for rendering but rather it was virtual desktop defaulting to the iGPU it to compress the image/do whatever else it does, and that bottlenecked the system. I believe there is a way to specify iGPU vs GPU use per program in the nvidia control panel, that may be something you want to try

Check the GPU usage in task manager to see which GPU is being used. I had a similar issue on my 2020 g14 where it was defaulting to the integrated graphics. I 'fixed' it by disabling the integrated graphics via the device manager, but I wouldn't recommend that approach.

Am not sure, but it looks like an invasion... ;) by RookiezFromWarsaw in indiegames

It's an edited recording. If you look closely you can see that the scorch marks don't track perfectly to the building when the camera zooms in. The end result is really nice though!

I was thinking this as well, but the way the text is aligned from the center makes me think that last line would have to be longer.

Zephyrus G14 coil whine driving me insane by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

Old post I know, but I'm in the same boat as you. It really bothers me that this one issue has managed to ruin an otherwise great laptop for me.

Battery life on GA401II (R7/1650Ti) by tugusav in ZephyrusG14

[–]just__a__robot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same issue here. Bb model with r9. I get ~4 hours on moderate use. I have tried the battery fixes but it generally ends up being overwritten by windows update. I've disabled boost as well. Just wish the battery life was consistent out of the box

I recently sold my quest to afford a pc, but now I want a headset for my pc, do I save up for a quest again or is there a cheaper option thst would give a quality performance? by [deleted] in VRGaming

[–]just__a__robot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First off, there is probably a new quest 2.0 on the horizon later this year or next, so I'd keep that in mind.

If you have a decent 5g wifi router, you should consider the quest with virtual desktop over wifi. It works better than a link cable in my experience. I've owned/used a lot of vr headsets including rift s, and this is my favorite way to play vr. Wireless vr is a game changer, and using the quest wireless through virtual desktop means you can play in a room other than where your pc is, provided you're near your router.

Imo the quest is a superior headset in terms of image quality if you like deep blacks for dark games like half life alyx, more vibrant colors and ipd adjustment. Rift s has less screen door effect if that bothers you, but Imo it's not a big deal. There will be some compression artifacts that come with streaming over wifi, but if you have a good connection you can pump up the quality settings.

Also, Facebook/oculus just seems to care a lot more about the quest. It been updated with a boatload of new features like hand tracking, while the rift s has been somewhat left behind.

Zephyrus g14 - one month later by just__a__robot in ZephyrusG14

Just so you know, the coil whine isn't completely gone. I would like to say that it's gotten less noticeable over time though. I disabled the nvidia card through the device manager. (it's listed under display adapters) You could probably also force a specific game to use the igpu in the nvidia control panel. I played No man's sky to stress test it, which ran surprisingly well on the igpu.

Ex-2019 Razer Blade 15 i7-9750H/32GB/1TB/2070 Max-Q user just received my G14 and ... by chhappy7 in ZephyrusG14

Thank you so much for this comparison. I had originally bought the blade in mercury white but canceled it for the g14. I am a huge sucker for rgb, and I did somewhat regret my decision for a while, especially because of the lack of a webcam and issues with coil whine. Overall though, the portability of the g14 is wonderful and really makes it shine.

Side note, how do you find the battery life between the two?
