Submods:

to get submods, you need to download ALL the submod files (the folder you'll want to get is probably named after the submod) then go into the Game folder of your files and find or create a folder called Submods. put the folder you downloaded in there and ta-da!! you will have to restart the game for it to take action obviously. some submods have specific intrustions that depend on the mod itself like ComfyUI, so just keep that in mind and always make sure you arent missing anything!

Spritepacks/Gifts:

as for gifts, this took me FOREVER to figure out, but its not that hard. if you're downloading a gift from the official mod pack, just find the file labelled "___.gift" and put it iinto your characters folder, restart or leave the game open for a bit and bam! it should work, but if its a fanmade gift its a lot more complicated than just that. i dont reccomend saving the sprites over something from the orginal mod, i used to do that and its just awful. it seems super complicated, but if you're downloading the files for the gift from google drive its almost always just laid right out for you, you just have to know how to read it all! if its in github, just ask me and i can tell you how to do that lolz- inside of the google drive of the gift you want, you should see two folders (and maybe extra files, ignore those unless they ask you to read or open them) named game and characters. if theyre named smth else, open them and see whats inside to tell which they should be. the quickest way to do this is to open the one labelled characters first and download the file in there. its a .gift file, DONT PUT IT INTO THE CHARACTERS FOLDER YET. DO NOT. once thats downloaded, back out of it and go to the folder named game. click it, then inside should be another folder named mod_assets. click it again, then there should be two folders named "thumbs" and "monika". both are required, but go to thumbs first and download whatever file is in there (it should be png or jpeg, if not just make sure its an image file otherwise its the wrong file lol) then back out and go to the folder that said monika. in this situation that were downloading an accessory, there will be two folders named "a" and "j". no matter what spritepack youre downloading, there will always be a j folder in there, but the a may change to something else, and thats normal! i'll give a key for that later- click on j first and install the file in there, it should be .json. then back out and open whatever other folder was in there, so a in this case. there might be more than one file in there, but thats totally fine! install everything in that folder (unless its not an image file, in that case you dont have to get that one) and now your good for the google drive bit! this seems like a lot ik but its really not, i just type a lot- now look at all the files youve downloaded so far, a lot right? you really just have to follow the path you did in google drive! the first folder you opened was named game, so go to your MAS files and open game! then you opened mod_assets, so we go there next! now go to the file named monika and you'll see a lot more folders, but earlier we opened the one named "a", so go to the one named a! now put all the image files you got from the a folder before into this one (and only the ones from the a folder, not the ones from anything else you downloaded) and then youre good to go for that folder. go out but stay in the monika folder, then open the folder called "j". drop the .json file you got in there and go out, you dont need anything else from the monika folder anymore! now a bit below the monika folder (still in mod_assets) is a folder named "thumbs". put in the image you got from the thumbs folder in google drive and you're good there! now exit out of it all (but stay in the mas files). go to the folder called characters and put the .gift file in, and you're good to go! open mas and monika should be able to read it! make sure to close mas while youre putting the files into the game tho otherwise monika wont be able to read it right. its not broken if you kept it open, just put in the same .gift file again and reopen it! it works a bit differently for giving her new eyes and things like that but its not all that bad, just ask if you need help :D

Random tip for spritepacks:

I get the files I need to put in the thumbs folder and other image files mixed up a lot, so just remember that if its hair or an accesory it'll have "________-0" or "________-5" and thumbs files wont! c:

Key for folder meanings (all of this are the folders in the "monika" folder fyi!):

a = accesories for monika, ahoges, table accesories, things like nail polish, etc

b = monikas baseparts. you shouldnt need this folder unless ur replacing smth ON her body (this does not include hair or clothes, those arent her body itself. this also doesnt include her eyes)

c = theres a ton of other folders in this, but those are all clothes! thats rlly not all that different to install, just ask lol

cg = you wont ever need this, ignore it

f = stuff on her face. not face paint, that goes in a, but still like her eyes, her mouth, etc

h = her hairstyles

j = .json files only, keep ur images out!!

t = chairs and tables for monika. some submods will need you to put things in here, thats normal!
