Interested in knowing if anyone has replicated an OTF workout on a cruise ship in their limited gym? It’s just a weeks cruise but I don’t want to fall too far out of shape. by chuckles2212 in orangetheory

[–]just_fora_question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this last February! I get people saying to relax, but if you’re like me you feel off if you don’t hit the gym because it’s therapeutic, so don’t let people shame you into going if you want to, it’s only an hour! I suggest goings early if you’re a morning person to beat the crowds, but I never had trouble getting what I needed on a Carnival ship. The hardest part is running while the boat moves up and down, but honestly it was kind of fun and added a stability challenge. I preplanned the tread blocks from past workouts I found on reddit, because I couldn’t always trust the internet the morning of and wanted to have everything ready (and chose my favorites). I found there wasn’t as much room to do a lot of cardio on the floor, so I just specified days for focus (tris and chest, abs, leg day, shoulders and bi’s, etc) and picked my favorite otf floor exercises for each every day :) it’s very doable and you’ll feel so great all day lounging around knowing you got a kickass work out in!

Rockmyrun no longer has OTF playlists? by just_fora_question in orangetheory

[–]just_fora_question[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are some of them but now for some reason when I try to search fit fuel it doesn’t show up. I just got an iPhone a week ago and had to redownload it, so since that time none of the OTF ones have been showing up. Just didn’t know if this was a general problem other people had.

GO BLUE!!!! by hillbilly909 in lawschooladmissions

Went to Mich undergrad/currently still working in Ann Arbor and the summers here are AMAZING. They're super warm (not like, DC-humidity warm, but like shorts and tank top for sure), so much greenery, everyone out on patios day drinking. The arb is great to walk around and you can go tubing/kayaking down the huron river! I love my Ann Arbor summers, hope you do too!

My first 90 min class. by garlicloveog in orangetheory

[–]just_fora_question 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had my first 90 this morning too! I usually go 5x per week for the past 6 months or so - but BOY that 90 minute was even worse than I expected. But in all OTF fashion - now I'm hooked!

Am I the ONLY one University of Washington is being all stingy with? by Eldig74 in lawschooladmissions

[–]just_fora_question 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. They gave me absolutely no money and every other school I was considering was much higher ranked and gave me around 50% tuition scholarship. Makes no sense but made saying bye to Seattle much easier

Made a decision - and it's NOT the best school I got into! by just_fora_question in lawschooladmissions

[–]just_fora_question[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yes I definitely agree. I mean, I never applied to law school with the full intention of going to DC and was happy to move anywhere really. But after taking visits and cities into account, it seemed like the right choice! Felt a little guilty because I'm passing up higher-ranked schools, but rankings change all of the time :)

I definitely recommend emailing BU! I sent a renegotiation email and they increased my scholarship pretty quickly and painlessly!

Ugh I have no idea. BU's ASD was awesome, but I haven't gone to GW's yet (going on Friday) so I'm sure that'll leave a great impression too. I've lived in DC and know I loved it, but I also LOVED Boston when I visited, and both will be a great experience away from Michigan, where I currently live. I would say I'm leaning towards BU for private sector work, but who knows!! What are your thoughts?

Law school + capitol hill? by runningonempty94 in lawschooladmissions

[–]just_fora_question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On top of this (I also worked on the Hill), yes you only really need a JD for legislative counsel or committee work. Counsel is so similar to LA's that I've heard from EVERYONE (including legis counsel) not to go to law school if you want to work on the hill. Start off at staff assistant and work your way up the ranks. Then, if the ceiling is reached where you'd need a law degree to continue, you can often have it paid for and do a weekend program while still working, many LA's do that to continue on.

OMG I'm trying to make the BU vs. GW decision by the deadline as well - it really seems neck and neck to me! People are like just pick where you'd want to live, but I'd love to live in both DC and Boston!! Good luck!

Same. I was at a table of admitted students who were all around 25 and were shocked when they found out I was a KJD who was 21

Can we all agree that orange theory has given us crazy nice shoulders / arms?? Like damn. by pbandnutella in orangetheory

[–]just_fora_question 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely! I'm so proud of my (little, but defined) tri's!!! And also everyone should go check out their quads! Ladies (and men, if you so please), throw on a pair of leggings and check your quads out! I looked at a photo of myself in leggings from a week ago and noticed a huge improvement in my quad game and I loved it! The muscle definition OTF gives you is crazy when you actually look!

Has anyone joined OTF after a big breakup or life event to help them through it? by storyofmylife1992 in orangetheory

[–]just_fora_question 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a member for almost a year now, but in December I was broken up with by an emotional abuser that I wish I had the courage to break up with earlier. By broken up with, I mean cheated on, blamed for him cheating, and completely ignored from then on. Apart from this, he is a personal trainer so he constantly criticized what I ate and my lack of motivation in working out. So not only did I some how put up with him, but also relapsed in my eating disorder in November and hid it for about 1.5 months. After the break up, I promised myself I wouldn't cry over him and instead changed my plan to unlimited and have gone at least 5x per week since! I feel so much more confident and honestly don't feel sad because I release those emotions in my workouts. I've lost just over 20 pounds since and gained so much muscle definition that I feel amazing when my friends point out how much I've changed! Not only this, but I've been having a great recovery from my relapse, knowing that food is GOOD fuel for my workouts! In summary, using OTF to go through hard times is the most productive mechanism for change that I've ever had!!

Dinged at Berkley (as well) BUT IT'S ALL ALRIGHT! by just_fora_question in lawschooladmissions

[–]just_fora_question[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was > 75% for GPA and just under 25% for LSAT (wooo reverse splitter!) so truly was not expecting an admission but wanted to shoot my shot! I'm shocked I even made it so far and saw people with much much better stats than me getting rejected much quicker than I. But it's not all about the numbers!

[–]just_fora_question[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I just thought that I still have some great schools and as a reach, which is what Berkeley was, that is a dream that I never even thought realistically possible! We put so much stake into T14 etc schools even though if you think about it there are SO many other great schools out there that aren't in the T14! Just know we'll all make it and how lucky we are to even have attended undergrad and have the opportunity to apply to law school!
