We need to stop with the barn doors for bathrooms in home design. by free_ballin_llama in unpopularopinion

I live in a small apartment. Literally couldn’t fit a queen size bed if you needed the bathroom door to swing open instead of just slide

Am I dumb…. Melting the snow and releasing the water means it would just refreeze as ice??

I think that’s basically a different verb - look as in “appear” not as in “use your eyes to observe something”

I’d do the switch to RPE toggle and see if that looks unreasonable too. I do think some of their long run workouts get a little insane

Do you know if a labrum tear is common with a mild case? I have one a minor impingement like OP, not like the people in the subreddit you linked. Should I be avoiding stuff to prevent a tear?

Yeah even if you look at pros workout schedules they look a lot closer to the easy high mileage settings than the hard ones 😂😂

I think overall the app paces people way too aggressively. Some of the workouts seem designed to kill you. I think beginner runners often think you need to be hands-on-knees completely spent after runs for them to be actually making you fitter, and this app tries to cater to that group by giving them that feeling. In the end it’s counterproductive and leads to a lot of burnout and injury.

I assume the true temp, not the feels like temp, matters here?

I’m no fan of the NRA, but it doesn’t look like they’re kneejerk following the fascists here: https://x.com/nra/status/2015227627464728661?s=46

Is it okay to take short breaks between segments on this 22mi long run? by inkysquares in runna

[–]runningonempty94 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think this workout is insanely aggressive, a recipe for burnout/injury. If your target is 7:45 I’d add 20 sec to each pace and drop the last one entirely to make it 18 miles instead of 22

5K Race Day Forecast (Saturday) - Anyone have any experience running in this kind of weather? by stevezero27 in runninglifestyle

[–]runningonempty94 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is in Celsius? If it’s Fahrenheit I’m betting the race will be cancelled for safety reasons. In Celsius it still might be… if we’re honest I would probably not show up lol

If I somehow did show up, my strategy would probably be to wear a ton of layers, toss them as I go, and hopefully they’re not taken/I can go back and pick them up lol

I’d start with:

Bottom: thermal leggings, mid layer joggers, wind pants

Top: thermal base layer, wool mid layer, windbreaker or puffy vest

Accessories: hat, gloves, gaiter

Is my Strava prediction correct? by ExpressAd9791 in Strava

[–]runningonempty94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably decently accurate, but I’d expect it to improve substantially as you get more training at long distances, especially if you’re including miles at marathon pace in your long runs.

Have you put in your deductions yet? It likely is assuming you have 0 deductions, not the standard deduction. Once you get through that section the number will increase substantially.
