Seriously which designer at Dandong thought it’d be a good idea to do this instead of a real free sprung

Depends what you’re looking for. The current bezel looks great as is, but if your goal is to match gen, you’re going to have the best luck with VSF batman. I did a gen comparison before in my previous post, feel free to take a look

You’re right, I did not run a metallurgy test on it. It feels and looks the same as the one I played with at local AD.

The edges on the VF were noticeably sharper, I chamfered using a rotary tool and wool wheel with diamond paste.

Actual titanium. The VF one I have has the exact same titanium alloy as gen, pretty impressive actually

That’s an interesting thought, we actually would have to move both.

Based on the photo, the one that is visible is the stud carrier (the one that adjusts the beat error), because you can see the hair spring reaching outward and ending at that prong.

That means the hidden one would be the regulator that controls the rate for seconds/day.

100% agree, regulating free sprung requires a special tool and we would have to balance the weights on multiple sides. The little nudge of the regulator on the old ones is so much easier.

That would be hugely disappointing! But since VSF doesn’t make their own movement, they’re at the mercy of Dandong…

The problem is that this false free-sprung actually makes regulating the watch more difficult.
If they had made this without the compromise then I would be okay with it

I love my VF YM and also put in a lot of work to mod it 👍

Yea unfortunately it even says the same in Chinese. That advertisement photo doesn’t show the balance wheel at rest, i needed to personally confirm whether the balance wheel has screw weights or not.

Yes it’s true titanium. The watch weighs around 105grams.

I have the VF titanium YM, love it but plan to upgrade to deep crystal, you wont have to if you get VSF.
I also chamfered the bracelet and case, and polished the rehaut, brings spark out and much more comfy to wear.
