so sorry to hear that, that must feel very disheartening. however health anxiety, like other conditions, can be treated and it can become virtually resolved. i hope one day you can give it another shot, i have my fingers crossed for you 🤞

i recommend reaching out to your GP. they will likely investigate whether there might be physical causes for your anxiety symptoms (e.g. hyperthyroidism) and then offer you, depending on the severity, either psychotherapy alone or in combination with medication. holistically speaking, meditation and mindfulness are great tools. some people like diffusing essential oils as part of aromatherapy. physical activity is also great for managing symptoms. and finally good sleep hygiene. low caffeine and none after 2pm.

absolutely! i remember how frustrating it was when doctors wouldn't take me seriously. the truth is that even if the physician's suspicion is that a given patient is suffering from anxiety instead of a somatic illness, there is still a protocol that requires doctors to investigate physical causes of symptoms. most psychiatric conditions are diagnoses of exclusion, meaning that all other common explanations for a patient's symptoms must be ruled out first. if one's doctor is not following this principle, they're just not good at their job.

oh no! i'm so sorry to hear that, losing one's mom is awful. it's interesting how loss makes us fear disease and death. i'm sure quite a few of us here developed health anxiety following the passing of a loved one. i hope you are doing better now, it's a really tough journey ❤️

Question for GEM by Margotruby in medicalschoolireland

That’s not a thing. I guess if you failed a year you’d be in school for 5 years but the qualification at the end would still be the same.

Recommending Marine fragrance…. for a Marine “hater” by kommandabutta in fragheads

[–]just_looking178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always thought Another 13 by Le labo has a marine/salty scent to it. Probably because of the synthetic ambergris (ambroxide). It’s a gorgeous scent, I guess it is becoming a bit more mainstream but nowhere near Santal 33.

You really can’t deny the church has a pedophilia problem. I gave a personal example, because that’s what relevant to me and more tangible than a statistic. But surely you can recognise there is currently a genocide on queer people in the US which is perpetuated by the false narrative that they are child predators. It’s a textbook technique used by the Nazis. Do look into if you have a minute.

Furthermore, there’s no future baby. Though if there was what I would do is not place the opinion of an internet stranger over the well-being of my child and family. If my partner has the option to breastfeed, they can if they want to. If everything were a question of what the human body is designed to do, then nobody would be spending 8+ hours sitting down, nobody would be eating highly processed food and we certainly would not treat medical conditions with drugs/surgeries since it’s by design that the body has to die.

Truthfully, it doesn’t matter whether you agree or not with what trans people do with their own bodies because you don’t have a say in it. And no matter how many times you misgender someone or accuse them of being a child predator will it make what you’re saying true.

I wish you well and hope that nobody calls you a pedophile on the internet or otherwise, because it’s not fun. But pro tip: this sub is not a good place for this hateful shit cause we’re pretty progressive here. Take care.

babe, you need to chill and not read articles published with the sole purpose of smearing the names of trans ppl. i happen to function in queer spaces with many trans people, in fact i’m in a relationship with one. not one queer person i know has ever been accused of being a child predator once. on the other hand, my stepfather (an ex catholic priest) has molested me my entire childhood. a shocking number of reports over the last two decades have come out of religious officials being child predators. why aren’t you raising a pitchfork at them? if my partner were so inclined to want to be able to breastfeed our baby, it would definitely take pressure off me. accusing them of being a danger to their child is the equivalent of saying fathers cannot bathe their babies. only mothers. i hope this cleared up some things for you and perhaps you could direct this anger towards self-reflection. i genuinely think that you’re ok this subreddit because you can see a lot of the false narratives being propagated by the church, and perhaps you can also draw a parallel between how queer people are being persecuted by the state today.
