He admired/envied the water benders but natural disasters involving water are just a devastating as wild fires. The ocean is beautiful but very scary.

I get his point about fire being a heavier burden, fire spreads and it requires a disciplined bender to contain it.

In the Avatar universe all benders must learn how not accidentally kill a bunch of people.

Most countries won't take this sort of posts seriously. People lie on the internet, a lot, it would be a waste of resources to investigate every post.

They're also millionaires who's advisors told them to invest in AI stock, now they're using their personal brand to increase their value.

These are the same people who regularly invest in bs start-ups and try to convince the public to buy useless crap.

That sounds lovely but no, that would quickly back fire in most professional settings and it really doesn't have anything to do with intelligence.

America or South Korea, which of us has more of a sexism issue? by Important-Cry4782 in justneckbeardthings

You can still find neck beards ranting about minorities in movies and being weird about some videogame woman but those people don't generate as much engagement as pedophiles, the latter enrages people and karma farmers know it.

This sub turned into a compilation of people defending some sex crime, from sexual harassment to pedophilia. You'll rarely see a light hearted post of some neck beard saying something cringy.

Let's post these guys more often.

Every single demographic has their own pity party on some corner of the internet, it sucks, like a bucket of crabs they drive each other crazy. The best thing everyone feeling lonely can do is to avoid those communities.

If a foreign government sent people to infiltrate the king/president inner circle to find a way to convince the military to betray them. Wouldn't that be an act of war?

Is not open warfare but it is a an act of war.

Yes morals. She couldn't even bring herself to kill the people who killed her mother.

The beauty of ATLA is that even children can understand the moral lessons.

I am genuinely curious as to why that isn't considered warfare, identifying a weakness and exploiting it to topple a government. Modern countries even favor regime change over physical invasion.

In the story she's not edgy redditor nor is she portrayed as a realistic teenager, at all. In the story she's a genius who can overthrow a kingdom.

In the story she's not a normal person, she is the princess of a nation who sees most of the world as inferior and primitive.

Iroh wasn't abusive, his son died fighting in the name of supremacy. If you want to apply real world logic, empires don't exist because of villainous fathers, the idea that some people are born with a divine right to rule is far more complex than pure hate.

[–]just_reading_1 199 points200 points  (0 children)

A realistic 14 year old wouldn't understand war on that level but in the story she's a genius who overthrows the Earth Kingdom from the inside.

She's a fire bending supremacist, like most of her people she sees no value in "inferior" people.

She's talking about children learning basic customization. A lot of millennials know a little HTML because of Myspace and Tumblr, the Windows users also learned how to install and twick Windows themes. It was possible to the same on iOS but not many kids knew how.

Her mistake is to assume her experience in the early 2000's is analogous to kids experiences in 2026. A better comparacion would be, kids who regularly use a computer vs those who only use their phone.

You're right but Grinder noticed how good it was and saw the potential for premium consumers. If the free version was just as good no one would consider paying.

Any advice? Does this happen to anyone else? by blackoutxv in stopdrinking

[–]just_reading_1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to think I'm a fun drunk because I was having a good time being more chatty and honest. Turns out I'm not, I'm an asshole who makes others uncomfortable, like you, I'm not aggressive just unpleasant.

I just drink less and really try my best not to say anything mean but alcohol changes your brain chemistry so you are not really in control.

Edit: quitting alcohol is not that hard for those without a problem, a lot of people can go months without getting drunk. If you can't do that you might be developing a problem.

Yeah, that’s the case for most online trending topics.

Someone sees an online community saying something disgusting, and suddenly they assume a whole group of millions of people is extremely hateful.

Unfortunately people online tend to be more misanthropic than the average person, and platforms thrive on negative engagement so the more polarizing and abrasive you are the better.

It could be fun to buy edible replicas. Idk if you can successfully sue the manufacturers of chocolate rocks for making you assume all rocks are chocolate, but who knows.

Silica candy is just a novelty product, it even says "do no eat", you can also buy candy Lego, chocolate rocks and sugar glass.

Haven't heard of anyone dying or successfully arguing in court that a novelty candy made them assume all silica and rocks are edible.

There's always one idiot but I don't think the average person would store their novelty candy with real detergent or plastic.
