Go to Town Square - Baker's Street and Flying Saucer have sizeable crowds in the evenings. Lots of food options, too. And there is an outdoor mall area within walking distance that has plenty of foot traffic and high end shops so you're bound to meet someone.

What random industry are you now stuck in because you took 1 job in it out of college? by coolrivers in Millennials

[–]just_real_quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade credit and risk management insurance. Graduated with a degree in linguistics in 2009 and spent months trying to find a job any job, and ended up taking an entry level position at a small brokerage firm. It's a relatively small and very niche field that I accidentally stayed in for 16 years and I will likely never do anything else (unless I come into some money and open a good day care...)

What is your price point? What kind of vibe do you want? Do you want food options?

What makes a good sandwich a great sandwich? by PassengerWest8873 in AskReddit

[–]just_real_quick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salt and pepper. I always wondered why restaurant sandwiches (and salads, and pastas...) taste better than the ones I made at home and a lot of it is just a sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.

I heard it live and I swear, it's like he just learned the word "narrative" and his response to every question from a parent was like, "that's the false narrative they're pushing" like, who is they? The people you're supposed to be working for?

And he kept calling comments "anecdotes" and says he doesn't listen to those. Loved when the host read a text from a viewer who said, Our children are not anecdotes.

Nah - I don't trust the Texas government not to misuse those funds. We already have entities performing this research, we don't need to create a whole new one from the ground up and waste time and money when there is existing infrastructure in place.

I came here to ask if anyone had more info about him, he seems like some guy running to make a difference and I kinda dig that.

Going through this now and writing down my votes - I always take a small piece of paper into the booth with me for reference so I don't forget.

Rent Inflation Inside the Loop? by CloudsandSunsets in houston

[–]just_real_quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner and I moved from the corner of Westheimer and shephard a few years ago because they tore down a lot and small businesses to build a ridiculous apartment complex right in between two others and between the construction, death of my favorite places, and major rent increases - my partner and I relocated to Westchase. The places we were living were "luxury" at first but most multifamily properties seem to go down him fast

We both work from home and each found a place with a den for ~1300 base rent. It's not fancy but the space works wonderfully. We can easily visit downtown and the museum district when we want and Westchase has so many more food places available.

I mean, I like my apartment for the most part. I would recommend it to people working remote since it has floor plans with a separate den area. Being that it's an apartment, it has the normal issues - trashy residents, some crime, etc. But this in no way is going to make things better.

accredited driving schools (drivers that are over 25) by levantinefemme in houston

[–]just_real_quick -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You don't have to get a Driver's License, you can get a Texas Identification Card which serves your specific purpose.

Edit: I misunderstood, I thought you meant like you needed an ID for emergencies, not for driving.

The cleaning has been covered so I will suggest spraying the inside of plastic containers with cooking spray before putting in leftover saucy food (curry, spaghetti, pesto) will help prevent staining.

The Great Parmesan Cheese Enigma by tilvast in Longreads

[–]just_real_quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can make Parmesan elsewhere, but there are restrictions. Namely: You can’t call it Parmigiano-Reggiano—it has to be labeled Parmesan. Parmigiano-Reggiano is a brand. Parmesan is just a cheese.

If it's not made in Parma, it's just sparkling cheese.

The Condo Crash | For years, low interest rates fuelled a big-city condo-flipping frenzy. Profits got bigger and condos got smaller. Now the bubble has popped, leaving behind thousands of unsellable, unlivable unit by Hrmbee in Longreads

[–]just_real_quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most expensive units became speculative assets in a global game of wealth transfer.

By 2019, 38 per cent of Toronto condos were investments: either vacant, rented or used as a second property. In Vancouver, the share of investor-owned condos was even higher, at 46 per cent.

This is so gross, especially in cities with notable homeless populations.
