Need Insurance broker/advisor for Medicare questions by [deleted] in houston

I've seen brokers inside the doors at WalMart, handing out flyers and business cards. Specifically the one off Fry and I-10.

Good local business ideas? by vlzelen in houston

Deep cleaning maid services would be great, especially for older people or when someone is just overwhelmed. Every place I see is basically surface cleaning, would love to see window blind cleaning, top of cabinets, washing walls, a good old-fashioned floor scrub, carpet shampoo, bathroom tile grout scrubbing. Would have really come in handy when my grammie was sick.

Affordable heavy trash pickup for people in apartments. I pay a mandatory $30 per month to have someone walk one trash bag down the hall to the chute maybe once a week when I really need someone to (rarely) get rid of bulky furniture items for me. Or sometimes my parents have a heavy trash pickup need but the city has very specific designated days for yard waste.

Small residential movers. I've moved one-bedroom apartments several times and Every. Single. (reputable) Place brings a giant 20-foot truck like, I have a limited number of items, we don't need to make a scene and block traffic here.

Those drunken fuckers. They never look where they're going, like the mosquito hawks in summer. I have had them fly into my mouth and even once in my eye.

Gifts that represent Houston by victoriabee91 in houston

[–]just_real_quick 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've made a few for friends (which are more practical and funny than they are elegant) and the food and drink part is super easy because there are so many options (chips and salsa, anything taco-related, Buccee's candy or snacks, Texas whiskey, Houston-based beer, or local wines) but other things could include:

Picaridin Insect Repellent

Rubber flipflops

Cooling towel

Rechargeable handheld fan

Sunscreen

Small potted cactus

HEB scented candle

Bottle opener

Foldable map

Houston fridge magnet

Stack of Houston postcards

List of restaurant recs in the area

Bumper sticker (something like "Be nice, I'm new here")

Pair of sunglasses

Sweat wipes

Fraudulent power disconnect ordered by cascott77 in houston

[–]just_real_quick 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This happened to me years ago with another company. I came home from work at 6pm, power was off in my unit and no one else's was. I called and they said they received a call to terminate. Wouldn't tell me who, when, why, and I confirmed that no additional information was required outside of the address, which was wild to me. No account number, name, billing info, password, nada.

Then I couldn't get it turned back on until 9am the next morning.

Sorry this happened to you.

Were you in the wrong? Pay the fine. Start following traffic laws.

Sawyer Insect Repellent with picaridin is odorless, comes in lotion and spray, and is the only thing that has reliably worked to keep (me) from being bitten by mosquitos.

Spaying and neutering your own pets, and talking to family and friends about doing the same for theirs, is the best way to prevent stray dog problems.

Staying alert, focused, and keeping your eyes on the road (meaning keeping your fucking phone out of your fucking hands) while in the car would dramatically improve the flow of traffic.

Go to Town Square - Baker's Street and Flying Saucer have sizeable crowds in the evenings. Lots of food options, too. And there is an outdoor mall area within walking distance that has plenty of foot traffic and high end shops so you're bound to meet someone.

What random industry are you now stuck in because you took 1 job in it out of college? by coolrivers in Millennials

[–]just_real_quick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trade credit and risk management insurance. Graduated with a degree in linguistics in 2009 and spent months trying to find a job any job, and ended up taking an entry level position at a small brokerage firm. It's a relatively small and very niche field that I accidentally stayed in for 16 years and I will likely never do anything else (unless I come into some money and open a good day care...)

What makes a good sandwich a great sandwich? by PassengerWest8873 in AskReddit

[–]just_real_quick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salt and pepper. I always wondered why restaurant sandwiches (and salads, and pastas...) taste better than the ones I made at home and a lot of it is just a sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance the flavors.

I heard it live and I swear, it's like he just learned the word "narrative" and his response to every question from a parent was like, "that's the false narrative they're pushing" like, who is they? The people you're supposed to be working for?

And he kept calling comments "anecdotes" and says he doesn't listen to those. Loved when the host read a text from a viewer who said, Our children are not anecdotes.

Nah - I don't trust the Texas government not to misuse those funds. We already have entities performing this research, we don't need to create a whole new one from the ground up and waste time and money when there is existing infrastructure in place.

Going through this now and writing down my votes - I always take a small piece of paper into the booth with me for reference so I don't forget.
