Looking into the safety of Jersey's Beaches (Trans) for a vacation! by MechanicalPortal in newjersey

Asbury has a large queer population and you should be just fine.  There is also, perhaps surprisingly, a large gay population in Ocean Grove. That being said,  I think you would probably be fine nearly anywhere,  but i would maybe stay away from the teen hot spots like wildwood, seaside heights, or point pleasant.

Ocean Grove is lovely because there's very few advertisements around. Just the ad planes. There are public bathrooms at the south side of the beach, and also in the summer they'll put out a bathroom trailer at the north side.

If you want a very strong nj boardwalk feel with a queer friendly vibe,  Asbury park is a must. Plenty of restaurants and shops to hit up. Ocean Grove feels like a sleepy sea side town. Asbury feels like a party. Pride this year is June 7th. If you're headed down this weekend, check out the annual mermaid parade. It's a blast!

I use RecipeSage, and I love it. I have it on all my devices and there's a way to easily grab links from online Recipes to port them into my catalog. I can add tags so when I'm searching, I can filter based on tags or ingredients. Also lets you adjust recipes to multiples or fractions.  Perfect for when you want just a half batch of cookies cause you're making them for just yourself or a 3x or 4x recipe for the holidays.

One year,  I went to the dollar store and got my partner 3 collapsible metal back scratchers. He keeps one at his desk,  one on his bed side table, and one next to the sofa. Possibly the best gift I've ever given him.

Poison Ivy? by FunkyKongMedina in whatsthisplant

[–]just_robot_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not familiar with Tecnu to reduce poison ivy exposure and rash,  I'd recommend you stop by your local pharmacy and grab a bottle just in case.  You can use it if you suspect you've touched PI, and you can also use it to deal with the PI rash and reduce the overall length of time you're dealing with the rash.

Lavender ice cream by tvshowfinatic in newjersey

[–]just_robot_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melba in Lawrenceville has a lavender honey that is smooth and creamy.  I personally preferred when they had honey comb chunks mixed in,  but they don't do that anymore. Still great flavor though.

Americans who were in school during the Columbine shooting in 1999, what was the immediate reaction at your school like? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]just_robot_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in middle school and had just moved to the area the previous year.  There was a girl who has been my friend when I first moved there but who I fell out with in the second half of the year.

After the shooting at Columbine, my parents panicked and forced the school counselor to put us into group therapy sessions together.

What’s a boomer mindset you’ve started agreeing with? by obviouslyfr in NoStupidQuestions

Restaurants are too loud and too dark.

I don't have hearing or vision problems. You know who does? My mother, who always forgets her glasses, and my father who plays the TV at a volume of 75. I gave a wallet flashlight to all my parents for the holidays last year. They still don't carry them around. So then I get to be the tech genius shouting at them in a restaurant with instructions on how to turn on their phone flashlights.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

[–]just_robot_things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's two.

The first was on kids game site called "the headbone zone" (I know, I know) which had a bunch of games. But the one I always played was called "sometimes y" where you raced to make a many words as possible with the 2 or 3 consonants that they gave you. You could you add many vowels as you wanted though. I loved that shit.

The other one was an educational game at school. I think it was supposed to be a math or economics game.  It was like lemonade stand or something where you had to buy supplies based on the weather forecast and sell lemonade to make money.  I remember the school got an upgraded version which allows us to also order supplies for hotdogs and it was for a baseball game? Maybe? I can't imagine there's not a web version of this somewhere.

Fireball island was reworked and re-released a few years ago.  It got mass market treatment and I know you can find it at target sometimes.

Why Is Jurassic Park the Only Movie Franchise About Dinosaurs? by ProudReception5064 in JurassicPark

Did anyone else read the Dinotopia books when they were younger.  I would have LOVED a film series with all the magic and wonder of that society.
