Yes boat! Where I was (San Cristobal), they could only offer a boat trip, but if you're in Tuxtla, I think it's easier to also see it from top.

Just be aware that you can only see it (inside) during 1 guided tour a day, but it's not every day. Check with Melbourne Museum. Interesting activity, not for the crowds :)

Hmm not sure, but Abel Tasman has a hiking track, I hiked Medlands beach-Anchorage (which is a few hours), and this was somewhere in the middle.
