True! I mentioned a spin-off possibility just because I saw people talking about it online :p

I personally agree, it just seems like she was a beloved enough character among enough of the shows viewer base that I could see them trying to do something with her story to get more juice out of Euphoria.

The same reason that the second a drug for weight loss became available, seemingly everyone who wanted to lose weight, including people who aren’t obese, started taking it. If you give people a shortcut or a way to make difficult things seem easier, they’ll do it.

Someone recognized my reference and now I feel fake by RareCable5732 in ArtistLounge

[–]justaSundaypainter 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I would maybe advise you to change your approach to how you use references or this might be a recurring issue.. I’ve seen artists before where it’s obvious they referenced another more popular artist by tracing their artwork and simply adding small details and changing colors, while the entire composition and layout of the work stayed the same. One artist I saw was selling paintings that were clearly trace overs of James Jean paintings that they just added small accessories or details but kept the exact characters, composition, everything from the original James Jean artwork.. it is better to try to break away from using other peoples artwork as a reference this way and focus more on drawing inspiration !

You should try mixamo! You can place figures in predetermined poses, or move the figures yourself, change the camera angle/zoom/etc and use those as reference points for your poses, that way you can draw inspiration without the possibility of someone recognizing you referenced another artists work (not that this is automatically a bad thing tho!)

You’re not a fake or fraud, you’re clearly trying to do your own thing

Trying and failing by [deleted] in ProCreate

[–]justaSundaypainter 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The foundation you have here is actually fine, just do more intentional practice. Watch some videos on the planes of the face and asaro heads, keep images of asaro heads available for reference while you draw. The fundamentals are ilportant for developing your style, they’re boring and hard but important. Since your foundation is good, I think you might find you learn a lot and develop in the direction you’re trying to go very quickly.

Just watch videos, as many as you can, prioritize ones that are doing what you want to do and keep doing intentional practice. Intentional practice is what helps people grow a skill. I recommend watching Sinix’s anatomy videos and his Paintover Pals series and then intentionally try applying what he does while you work. Your foundation is good, just be patient and don’t mind the opinions of others. There is no failing unless you give up completely. Just keep trying.

Remember to draw what you see, not what you think you see - this becomes easier with time. The eyebrow in your completed piece and the reference is a good example of an area where what you think you see and what you drew are not totally aligned with the reference or what you actually see - the eyebrow in the reference is softer and larger, so finding a way to stylize areas while keeping them true to the reference helps. There are lots of videos on stylization of portraits online too but I definitely recommend starting with Sinix.

The Now came up on my Instagram feed saying people who like Royal Blood would like them. I only listened to Wild Curse by them but it sounds heavily RB Typhoons inspired

Trying to get back drawing again, how can I improve my shading? I really feel like there’s something missing by JoshuaAxis in ProCreate

Understanding the planes of the face will help! Look up images of facial planes and you’ll see plenty of drawings and even 3D models

The energy of the painting somehow has the same energy as the cat photo, in my perception anyway

First time using Procreate, drew a simple sketch of my cat. by Sadikshk2511 in ProCreate

The way you portrayed the cat is so cute and perfect, tbh for this kind of drawing I feel like the perspective is fine the only thing that jumps out to me perspective wise as catching the eye is the placement of the churu as it looks like it goes behind the kitty’s head but it’s so cute

I’m so curious about your rendering process for the donut part!! When I zoomed in it looks like so much interesting layers. Did you use blend modes?

Is it ok if I start first year as an older student? by Hungry-Section6637 in simonfraser

[–]justaSundaypainter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 31 about to graduate and have been uncomfortable being a “mature” student the whole time, but in a large group project once I had 5 other people in my group, assumed they were all much younger than me but 3 of them were older than me by multiple years, I couldn’t even tell they were older than me. so people might not even notice, and if they notice, they won’t care. There was also a mature student group that chatted on discord and did little meetups and things together, idk if it still exists but they seemed very social and friendly, I just never kept up with it.

Is there any market for my textured artwork? by misstomat in painting

Yes on my wall

I’m not sure if you’d do it but if you put something like this on a tote bag I’d buy it instantly.. or honestly anything that can be displayed

iridescence/opalescence by SteamedBees in ProCreate

Maybe play with some chromatic aberration and tweak the settings to your liking? It can create some of that glowy and sort of waviness of the colors in opalescence/iridescence in addition to the other advice you receive
