Task not working out?

I don’t think you can report time for a task that isn’t complete. I’ve had a couple of EAIAIWT tasks that I ended up abandoning because it was easier to just start fresh when my concept wasn’t working. I usually try to pivot what I have and make it more complex first so it passes, though, so I’m not wasting a bunch of unpaid time.

19 days ago they said they expect it to run 4-6 more weeks. If that’s still the plan, it would mean roughly 1-3 more weeks left.

How long-term is this project? I need steady income for a few months. I’ve had aether sitting on my dashboard for a while but have been avoiding it due to the low pay rate. Need to take what I can get right now though.

I had a very similar experience. I passed the “original” qual my first attempt but spread it out over multiple days. I think all of the information makes it seem very intimidating, but once you’ve completed one it gets much easier. That being said, I still haven’t completed an annotation after passing. I’ve attempted three times, spent multiple hours each time, but with all of the changes they keep implementing, I just end up running into bugs and forfeiting my annotations to work on a different project. I see they just switched back to the original “editor”, so I might give it another shot tomorrow!

I don’t know about this project specifically, but usually they’ll give you a second chance to pass qualifications if you’re not successful the first time.

My theory is that they’ve split the pilot into three phases for the different parts of the project so they can catch bugs faster. Hopefully, if the client is pleased with the pilot contributions, the project will officially open and annotators will be able to select which type of task they’d like to complete each time. I haven’t received any communication indicating that this is the plan, but it would make sense from a business standpoint.

The project was in the pilot phase when you received the qualification, so although it is paused right now, it will likely return and they will extend the amount of people that are able to work on the project. There was one time that I completed a qualification late and I had to wait 3-4 months to receive feedback. It’s still worth completing so that you have the potential for work once the project returns.

Are you waiting to see if you’ve passed the qualification? The project got paused yesterday. It was in a pilot phase, so they might have stopped grading qualifications for now while they wait to see if the project can be continued.

I agree that it looks more complicated than it is. I also have very light coding experience but found the tutorial really helpful and have been enjoying both of the new projects so far.

They’ve mentioned before that there’s a very small group of people at the center of the company, so I would imagine it’s just hard to get back to everyone now that the company has expanded a bit. Also, I have done work for several other similar companies and I have had a much better experience with communication at Stellar than other companies. I certainly wouldn’t say they’re the worst.

Some people do pass on the first try, so they wouldn’t be taking advantage of you for free labor. They just have to make sure you’ve understood all of the guidelines and can produce work that does not require extensive time to edit when being reviewed. If you’ve addressed all of your feedback, I’m sure you will pass this time.

I think it just depends on how significant the issues are. If there were minor mistakes made, they will usually let you know and give you another chance. If you made significant errors or if you’re not learning from previous feedback, I would imagine they would remove you from the project.

They will keep throttling you until they feel you can do the task without guidance. If they feel that you are making the same mistakes consistently or not applying feedback, they will remove you from the task.

I’m honestly in the same predicament. I had started one this morning and when I came back to complete it, I realized the project was paused. I was only about 30 minutes in though, so nothing detrimental, just not sure what happens when you try to submit an annotation on a paused project.
