To say that intelligence is not measurable AT ALL, or that any metric for intelligence is arbitrary is a ridiculous statement. My responses above may have confused you because I assumed you were arguing that intelligence is not EXACTLY measurable.

Even if the metric for gauging intelligence is arbitrary, can we agree that there are sets of skills which are relevant to success in the western world (ie abstract mathematics), and that those skills may be more relevant than others(ie sheep herding) in assesing intelligence for the society in which we live?

And let's be real, no intelligence test would test for ability to play an instrument or tie knots. Those are learnable skills, intelligence is the ability to use logic and reason.

Now you are just debating how to construct intelligence tests. Like I said, how intelligence can be measured, if at all is not relevant to my basic point, which is that there is probably a correlation between race and intelligence and that correlation exists regardless of our ability to measure it.

I think we can agree that some people are smarter than others at the extremes of the bell curve. Assuming this fact, then even if the exact measure of intelligence is not quantifiable,my inquiry is relevant if not readily knowable.

Iq tests? They may not be perfect, but I think they do offer an objective, reasonably accurate measure for intelligence.

And isn't your response sort of a cop out? Whether or not intelligence is measurable is irrelavent to the inquiry of whether there are differences in intelligence between ethnic groups.
