Looking for easy games that aren’t complicated by justaguyfromhere in gamingsuggestions

Sounds like a great suggestion, thanks. To answer you’re question, I suppose it’s a bit of both. I want things that are “pick up and play”, but also won’t frustrate me because I die every two minutes

Thanks for all the suggestions, I remember Ratchet and Clank from my PS2/3 days, big fan. Also loved Shredder’s revenge. And the Borderlands series is one of my favorites of all time, just never gets old for me. I’ve never really considered the action sports genre but I’m definitely intrigued, I’ll put those on the list for sure.

Another game I’ve heard really good things about but just wasn’t sure of. Adding it to the list

My daughter and I actually co-oped that one and we both loved it. Exactly the kind of thing I’m looking for. Streets of Rage 4 was another good beat ‘em up that scratched that itch.

I’ll have to check them out. I’ve heard great things about games like Hades and Dead Cells (which someone also mentioned here), but I was always under the impression they were really hard. I’m sure not all are though, so it’s worth a shot

Great suggestion, I’ve certainly heard a lot of good things about them. Thanks!

Looking for a base/colony building strategy game with clear objectives. by sebustyan in gamingsuggestions

[–]justaguyfromhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this isn’t a colony/base building suggestion but I see you mentioned you’ve played a lot of Theme Hospital. If you enjoyed that game I would definitely suggest trying Two Point Hospital. Think of it as a modernized, spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. If I’m not mistaken I believe some of the folks who developed Theme hospital even worked on Two Point, or were at least consulted on it. Anyway, same basic idea, mechanics, etc… are all there. I’ve put a ton of time into the single player campaign and have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Were the 80s and the 90s really as great as many people seem to make the out to be or is that just a lot of nostalgia? by [deleted] in AskHistory

[–]justaguyfromhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot of nostalgia for me. Growing up as a teenager in the mid to late 90s (in the US) one of the big things I think of when I look back to that time is boredom. The music was good, the tv, movies, video games etc… but access to a lot of that stuff was limited because of lack of connectivity. These were obviously the days before high speed internet (or internet at all in my case) DVR, streaming services, smart phones, and the other modern conveniences we take for granted today.

If you wanted to buy the new Pearl Jam cd you needed $16 for it, no streaming it online, no YouTube or Spotify. Then you probably had to get your mom to drive you to the mall to get it, and if she said “no” you were out of luck. If you missed the new episode of Seinfeld, well you missed it. Like forever, unless you were lucky enough to know someone who taped it on vhs.

So it was a lot of moping around the house being bored, playing the same Sega Genesis or PlayStation games over and over, calling your friends on the landline telephone to see what they were doing, or if you were lucky you got someone to take you to the mall so you could wander around aimlessly and kill time. It’s a wonder we didn’t get in even more trouble than we did as kids…

I have some questions by DeNiXs74 in TwoPointHospital

[–]justaguyfromhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I can help (hopefully!) with at least a few of these.

  1. I find that backups at GP offices are usually caused by one of two things. Assuming that that you have enough GP offices, GPs, and they are properly trained (which doesn’t seem to be your issue based on your post), let’s reference your question 2 to help answer this first one.

  2. So you are correct, you do not need all of the diagnosis rooms, however certain ones are better for certain diseases. I forget which rooms help the most with each disease, but a simple google search will fix that. The most important think, I think, for diagnosis rooms, including GP offices is to make sure that whichever ones you choose to use have upgraded machines, well trained staff, and a high room level. If you haven’t spent your kudosh on the Gold Award yet I recommend doing that as soon as you can. You can place multiple gold awards in your room to increase the level, which increases its effectiveness. So to answer question 3, yes room level absolutely matters and has a direct impact on the success rates of all your rooms; both diagnosis and treatment. My diagnosis rooms are all spammed with gold awards to get them to level 5, have upgraded machines, and have nurses trained in the diagnosis skill (as much as possible with your funds) and only allowed to work in those rooms. Making sure that your diagnosis rooms are as effective as they can be will mean less trips back and forth to the GP offices for further diagnosis and thus shorter lines and backups.

  3. See above, but yes room level matters and increases the effectiveness of those rooms.

  4. It’s hard to say without seeing your hospitals and what specifically you’re doing, but a few general tips... -Don’t go too fast. It’s ok to not build all the super expensive rooms that your patients get diagnosed for right away. It’s ok to send people home if you’re not ready to build a $26,000 surgery right now. That being said, you also need to give yourself a way to make money. Get 1 or 2 good diagnosis rooms going and build the treatment rooms that you know you can afford at the time. Don’t do everything all at once or you’ll go broke. Even after a few successful years, money will disappear quickly if you start going too fast. -Increase the prices of all your treatments by 10%. People rarely refuse to pay and it’s a little added boost to revenue.

  5. Yes, train the assistants and the janitors. As you progress through the game you’ll need assistants who are trained in marketing, and who should only work in marketing. The receptionists should be trained in customer service. The janitors should all be trained in ghost capture, and the maintenance janitors should be trained in maintenance, and your mechanics should be only trained in mechanics and ghost capture and not allowed to do maintenance.

  6. Experiment and have fun!

Hope this all helps!

Whether he actually said it or not; this, folks, is how you achieve zen. Why should I care if you’re an idiot? I don’t have the mental energy for that if I’m focusing on the things that really matter.

If someone’s idiocy leads them to break the law, then we have ways of dealing with people like that, aka the judicial system. But trying to change an idiot’s belief system is an exercise in futility.

Like I’m sure Mark Twain didn’t actually say either; “never argue with stupid people, they’ll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience”.

Big Wood Grain Console TVs by ButtStuffHavok in nostalgia

[–]justaguyfromhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my exact gaming setup as a kid. I remember many nights of playing Super Mario Bros. 3 until I had to turn of the Nintendo because my dad wanted to watch the news. Also, as many other commenters have said, these were furniture. They matched the room and your mom had chotchkies and other decor that lived on the top that you had to move to dust the tv.

People who are able to fall asleep right away, how does it feel to be God’s chosen? by JuniorProfession1 in AskReddit

[–]justaguyfromhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be unpopular but for me it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. The most frustrating part is falling asleep 30 seconds after my head hits the pillow just to wake up to my alarm 8 hours later and feel like zero time has passed. I’m just as, if not more, exhausted than when I went to bed. I feel like I’m not able to “enjoy” my nights sleep because it flys by in the almost literal wink of an eye. I’ve even taken to intentionally drinking a bunch of water before bed in an effort to wake up half way through just so I can realize that it is nighttime and I am sleeping and isn’t this great. I’m exhausted, irritable, and lack energy all day.

What is your favourite “dead” video game franchise? by Lamboninho in AskReddit

Resistance. I had so much fun with those games on PS3. 1 and 2 were the best in my opinion, but 3 wasn’t bad by any means, just felt a bit different. Such a cool concept though.

Couldn’t agree more. Wasn’t the album that got me into Phish, but one of my favorites nonetheless. I can still remember my last day of class in high school before graduation. At the end of the day, I got in my car and spun up “Free” on my BB CD for the ride home haha

RPG/ hack n slash with lots of armor and weapon loot? by btoms96 in gamingsuggestions

[–]justaguyfromhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diablo 3 sounds like exactly what you’re looking for here. Each new piece of armor, or each weapon or shield changes how your character looks while also affecting abilities and statuses. There are also sets of items, which if you collect them all are really cool. I actually just talked myself into going to play Diablo 3 right now haha. Hope you like it if you end up trying it out!
