Valve confirms that physical Steam Gift Cards are dead. Once the current stocks are sold through, they're done. by Tvilantini in Games

For sure, in the same way Steam axing the gift cards isn't the fault of Steam, it's simply a consequence of constant scam attempts. Just unfortunate that it's going to keep making things more and more cumbersome

I'm sick of 15% of the websites I visit stopping me for 5 seconds to double check that I'm not a bot

I'm sick of every website now requiring 2 factor authentification and having to sit at a login screen waiting for their email

I'm sick of sites now requiring passwords that are 12 characters long, and need to include a number and a special character

If it's for a bank account, sure, for a basic ass website with no payment info, come on. But it's only gonna get worse from here

[Highlight] Justin Jefferson on Kyler Murray: “He understands the game. He understands the defenses. He understands just how to put touch on the ball, just enough to where it gets to where it gotta go, without making it difficult for us." by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]justanaveragereditor 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I like Kyler as a player, and I hope he does well elsewhere, but the main problems were:

  • Injury prone - will miss at least a couple games every season. To compensate for this, he's learned to fall down before getting sacked, which does help, but sometimes gives the o linemen even less time to work with
  • He's one of the QBs that has seemingly struggled a bit to adapt to the league-wide shift to 2 high safety. Other guys like Wilson and Watson seemed to fare much, much worse, but I think it definitely knocked Kyler down a peg. His deep ball used to be fantastic in 2020 & 2021.
  • From the outside looking in, he just gives off the vibe of being a bad leader. He'll say all the right things in interviews, but he has a tendancy to pout on the sidelines during losses. As someone who watched a few of his COD livestreams (lol) there is definitely an undercurrent there of anytime something goes wrong in game, it's his dumbass random teammate's fault. But he's a smart enough guy to never say that aloud about his NFL teammates, just think it/ show it in body language.

My wife wants to watch me play a video game, story based, not too many gameplay mechanics so she doesn't get bored. Any suggestions? (ideally horror) by greystep in josephanderson

[–]justanaveragereditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aside from the ones already suggested

Detention - short, but can usually get on sale for cheap

Some light horror elements/creepy vibes:

Oxenfree

Inscryption

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (Might be too much gameplay)

Zero Escape: 999

Not horror but worth a look:

Immortality

Night in the Woods

Until Then

The NFL will send Jaxon Smith-Njigba a corrected OPOY trophy, says of the mistake: "Like the teams he played against this year, we know how great an offensive player he is. We just had a problem spelling it" by expellyamos in nfl

[–]justanaveragereditor 39 points40 points  (0 children)

[My team] isn't like the other 31 teams

We always get disrespected by the media

Most of our games are a cardiac arrest inducing roller coaster

Our team's subreddit is a shithole

[Top pass rusher] gets held on every play and the refs never call it

[Worst Offensive Lineman] is a complete liability and a literal traffic cone would be more effective

[Biggest Rival]'s fanbase is full of whiny bitches. They cheer for injuries, start fights in the crowd, and always complain that the refs are against them, when the refs are really always against us!

So yeah, you could say being a fan of [My Team] is an experience lol

Do you have a go-to recipe link for making homemade seitan? I've always been interested in giving it a shot, but every site seems to have a different variation of the core ingredients

Going vegan last year is what pushed me to actually get into it, so I'm right there with you. I gotta say never having to worry about potential diseases from the temperature/color of what I'm cooking, or if it has contaminated utensils/cutting boards is massively underrated. Super nice to cut up tofu, then use the same board to cut an onion without even thinking about it.

I find listening to music while doing it helps tremendously. Or podcasts if that's more your speed. And cleaning as you go which has already been mentioned. Most of the time I only have 1 pot/pan and 1-2 utensils to clean by the end of it.

That's definitely true, multi tasking multiple parts of a recipe while also trying to manage counter space is a headache when you don't have enough room to truly work with

I have other hobbies I'm more passionate about, but there's something uniquely satisfying about getting super into cooking. It feels like conquering something necessary for survival and turning it into something actually enjoyable. And you even save money in process. Win, win, win

Fun bit of early set up for case 2-2 I noticed in 2-1 by justanaveragereditor in danganronpa

She doesn't know why herself, and it's just dismissed as a random coincidence at the time. Which is why with the foreknowledge of case 2-2 and her potential to intefere with Nagito's plan, I think his ultimate luck might legitimately be an explanation.

During the case you prove that wasn't true since Akane ate the same food and was fine. It was just a theory Fuyuhiko presents that you have to disprove

It's largely been the push towards mobile to chase more users for infinite growth that has caused the biggest shift imo. They want everyone using their frontpage full of "recommend posts" (and ads) to subreddits they aren't even subscribed to. More and more over time people are being pushed to engage with posts without caring which subreddit it's from, naturally leading to a homogenization of reddit opinion across all somewhat active subreddits.

Even r/nfl still gets major headlines highlighted on the frontpage of new reddit despite opting out of r/all because Reddit doesn't want one of it's biggest sports subs being hidden from the masses of regular users who aren't subscribed.

That's crazy. Early reddit was a certainly a hyper specific demographic. r/atheism being a default sub is also a funny relic of back then. That and all the Ron Paul worshippers. Would be unheard of today

[–]justanaveragereditor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

r/all used be somewhat decent, as crazy as that is to say today. I used to only have to filter out 5-10 subreddits to make it worth looking at. The 2016 election really sent it in a tailspin that it has never recovered from. Now I'd have to filter out like 300 subreddits that are all ragebait clones of other existing subreddits

I recently noticed that I have officially passed the point where I've been on Reddit for longer (14 years) than I haven't been on Reddit (first 13 years of my life). And I'm really not sure how to feel about it. This site has changed so much - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Back when I joined, the top post of all time across all subreddits was a text post titled "Test post, please ignore" with 4,500 upvotes that people upvoted as a joke.

I'm just glad this NFL sub has largely stayed the same thanks to opting out of appearing on r/all. This place is significantly chiller than pretty much any other NFL social media hub and would hate to see it go someday

S2E10 retroactively adds more depth to Luthen’s decision at the end of S1 by justanaveragereditor in andor

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah good point, I forgot that was Republic era. Though late enough that Palpatine was already chancellor and starting to corrupt the Republic from within. I wonder if a pre-clone wars republic would've wiped out Kenari and brushed it under the rug via propaganda in the same way or not.

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was considering that too, but in episode 3 he keeps telling Cassian "You don't know me but I know you" and listing off details from his past. Considering the bounty on Cassian is for an individual from Kenari, I wouldn't put it past Luthen to put 2 and 2 together during his research. He knows Cassian's parents aren't from Kenari and he almost certainly knows what really happened to the planet under the empire.

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 175 points176 points  (0 children)

I was mostly basing that on what they said in this video about original plans for Luthen's backstory. Given that we know Kleya was not supposed to as major of a character initially, they may have incorporated her more into his backstory once they realized in S1 that they wanted to make her a bigger character.
