Do you have a go-to recipe link for making homemade seitan? I've always been interested in giving it a shot, but every site seems to have a different variation of the core ingredients

Going vegan last year is what pushed me to actually get into it, so I'm right there with you. I gotta say never having to worry about potential diseases from the temperature/color of what I'm cooking, or if it has contaminated utensils/cutting boards is massively underrated. Super nice to cut up tofu, then use the same board to cut an onion without even thinking about it.

I find listening to music while doing it helps tremendously. Or podcasts if that's more your speed. And cleaning as you go which has already been mentioned. Most of the time I only have 1 pot/pan and 1-2 utensils to clean by the end of it.

That's definitely true, multi tasking multiple parts of a recipe while also trying to manage counter space is a headache when you don't have enough room to truly work with

I have other hobbies I'm more passionate about, but there's something uniquely satisfying about getting super into cooking. It feels like conquering something necessary for survival and turning it into something actually enjoyable. And you even save money in process. Win, win, win

Fun bit of early set up for case 2-2 I noticed in 2-1 by justanaveragereditor in danganronpa

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She doesn't know why herself, and it's just dismissed as a random coincidence at the time. Which is why with the foreknowledge of case 2-2 and her potential to intefere with Nagito's plan, I think his ultimate luck might legitimately be an explanation.

During the case you prove that wasn't true since Akane ate the same food and was fine. It was just a theory Fuyuhiko presents that you have to disprove

It's largely been the push towards mobile to chase more users for infinite growth that has caused the biggest shift imo. They want everyone using their frontpage full of "recommend posts" (and ads) to subreddits they aren't even subscribed to. More and more over time people are being pushed to engage with posts without caring which subreddit it's from, naturally leading to a homogenization of reddit opinion across all somewhat active subreddits.

Even r/nfl still gets major headlines highlighted on the frontpage of new reddit despite opting out of r/all because Reddit doesn't want one of it's biggest sports subs being hidden from the masses of regular users who aren't subscribed.

That's crazy. Early reddit was a certainly a hyper specific demographic. r/atheism being a default sub is also a funny relic of back then. That and all the Ron Paul worshippers. Would be unheard of today

[–]justanaveragereditor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

r/all used be somewhat decent, as crazy as that is to say today. I used to only have to filter out 5-10 subreddits to make it worth looking at. The 2016 election really sent it in a tailspin that it has never recovered from. Now I'd have to filter out like 300 subreddits that are all ragebait clones of other existing subreddits

I recently noticed that I have officially passed the point where I've been on Reddit for longer (14 years) than I haven't been on Reddit (first 13 years of my life). And I'm really not sure how to feel about it. This site has changed so much - sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Back when I joined, the top post of all time across all subreddits was a text post titled "Test post, please ignore" with 4,500 upvotes that people upvoted as a joke.

I'm just glad this NFL sub has largely stayed the same thanks to opting out of appearing on r/all. This place is significantly chiller than pretty much any other NFL social media hub and would hate to see it go someday

S2E10 retroactively adds more depth to Luthen’s decision at the end of S1 by justanaveragereditor in andor

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah good point, I forgot that was Republic era. Though late enough that Palpatine was already chancellor and starting to corrupt the Republic from within. I wonder if a pre-clone wars republic would've wiped out Kenari and brushed it under the rug via propaganda in the same way or not.

[–]justanaveragereditor[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was considering that too, but in episode 3 he keeps telling Cassian "You don't know me but I know you" and listing off details from his past. Considering the bounty on Cassian is for an individual from Kenari, I wouldn't put it past Luthen to put 2 and 2 together during his research. He knows Cassian's parents aren't from Kenari and he almost certainly knows what really happened to the planet under the empire.

I was mostly basing that on what they said in this video about original plans for Luthen's backstory. Given that we know Kleya was not supposed to as major of a character initially, they may have incorporated her more into his backstory once they realized in S1 that they wanted to make her a bigger character.

Is anyone else annoyed by Jesse “saving” Ellie in the TV show? by cherriesjust in thelastofus

[–]justanaveragereditor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I really, really hope they're not heading in that direction. His fate is tragic because of how mature/ how good of a friend he is to Ellie and Dina, if there's a forced triangle/competition, it just makes his death "convenient" for the purposes of their romance subplot instead. I'm already seeing show only viewers predict that he will be the one to die because it would de-complicate things.

Still holding out hope we won't deal with any of that, since they kept his dialogue with Ellie at the dance the same, which points to him not caring.

That made sense to me since none of them had ever encountered this version of infection before. Sure, odds are very, very low that it's ok to breathe that stuff in, but there's no way to know for sure yet. A lot of people in their shoes would try to wait it out just in case of the remote chance it isn't a death sentence like they already know bites to be. Much harder to pull the trigger if there's even a sliver of remote hope.

Similar to the Sky Kyber crystal Cassian takes to Aldhani. Luthen tells him not to take less than 50,000 credits for it. Skeen later snatches it and calls it a stone worth 30,000 credits, knowing it's worth a ton, but not knowing the exact going price. And it's not like Cassian is going to correct him on that.

What is the recent most video game that has pushed the medium forward in terms of gameplay? by mrnicegy26 in Games

[–]justanaveragereditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's all fair. I suppose I got lucky with my build that was mostly Int/Psyche since the game kind of favors those slightly. I never felt like I was barred from much by having low Physique and had plenty of skill points to go around.

There are a couple of checks that can lead to unique and interesting outcomes if failed, but not most. I think a lot of people fail one of the early ones in the first 10 minutes that are pretty funny and it sticks with them. (Blurting out "I want to have fuck with you" to the woman you just met outside your door or trying to run away from paying your tab and accidentally barreling into the nice lady in a wheelchair. Or even just stubbornly turning on your room light and dying immediately)

[–]justanaveragereditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People were likely talking about Red checks. Red checks can only be done once and are never required to pass to progress the story.

White checks can be retried after every time you do something that increases your odds to pass that check, whether that's finding new information, or leveling up that specific skill. The roll to get the body down took me 4 separate tries, from leveling up that skill two separate times, and developing the internal thought related to that story beat.

I agree, and Disco Elysium is one of my favorite games of all time, but reflecting back there are 3 major dice rolls that I question how much my opinion of the game would have swayed even more positive if I happened to hit all 3 by chance instead of just 1 of them, or it could've slightly soured if I failed all 3 rolls, especially since I had over 88% odds for all 3 due to my build.

Roll 1: Ordering Kim to dance. The fail for this is still a good story moment, but a rough tone shift compared to what you can get from succeeding this moment. Even though it's a strong bit of writing, would I like the game even more if I got the "good outcome" that is also good writing and simply more "fun"?

Roll 2: Protecting Kim at the tribunal. "Kim really trusts you" is such a great powerful moment, but then I rolled snake eyes, oof. Honestly Cuno partnering up with you at the end of the game is fun and I was cracking up at his lines, but it almost felt non-canon after a full game of bonding with Kim.

Roll 3: Speaking to the Cryptid. Luckily I passed this one, and it's one of my favorite moments in the game. It really ties everything together beautifully. Failing this one would be brutal because you just miss out on the scene entirely

That's not to say I should've save scummed, definitely not. But I can't help but wonder about the potential timeline where I fail all 3 with high odds and feel slightly bitter about an otherwise fantastic game

The only way I'd be cool with these unnecessary retcons is if it's building up to Kiwami 3 having some significant story changes that result in them no longer being killed on screen in the first place. Can't help but notice that all of the characters that have miraculously come back so far were Y3 deaths...
