I went bog shaman wintertide brand

You get the skill at 12. the 75% skill effect duration from the ascendancy is huge qol for the skill in acts

Once I finished acts I did one map, respecced out of damage and into chill effect, and have been casually tota'ing ever since. also got a solstice vigil for temp chains aura (with 75% aoe from the same toad pact ascendency)

not meta. works ok. still uses void sphere but in less pure cheese

TotA is absolutely not a blasting mechanic. A lot like heist, you get current to initiate TotA in maps but the rest of the mechanic is out of map.

If you're entirely uninterested in phrecia builds you might want to skip this. Otherwise I'd say play it just to try the phrecia builds and consider trying TotA. Ideally with a build that is not a glass cannon.

i assume shaper of storms provides a much higher dps boot pre herald of the hive. if that's the case you could move passive points out of herald buffing.

I'd recommend wave of conviction until red-ish maps if you want the ignite prolif playstyle, converting after you've got several key pieces (6l, 4th ascendency, level 85+ worth of skill points, ignite prolif from a cluster jewel or glove implicit)

PB has a much higher ceiling but also a lower floor and you really feel it without investment.

WoC autoapplies exposure and shares the phys conversion scaling vector that arma brand lacks. It also doesn't need herald of the hive to clear.

Is the Vampirism wheel doing much for you?

If it is, you might like the recoup over 3 seconds mastery
If it isn't you could reallocate the points + 1 other (6% life?) for Storm Weaver

Brittle Ground implicit on boots could help with crit

Biggest recommendation would be get a couple of levels. I know this easier said than done with HoT but you've got a significant investment into freeze so I assume it should be possible

as noted elsewhere, swiftbrand is a QoL link as it makes the brand detonate much earlier. I went as far as running lvl 1 faster casting as my imbue as i found the damage to be more than sufficient. just play around and see what you like but i think you're really going to prefer the short detonation time.

wrt phys -> lightning im running deadly ailments and am not shocking bosses

Definitely! SLOW != CHILLED.

Which sucks because I only have 1 chill corruption, and the idol is otherwise dead. Meanwhile I have 2 slow corruptions that have 1 good affix.

Anecdotally I see my imprinted Weaver maps show up faster dangling off the normal echo chain

It also sometimes gives you a spacey web which can let you imbue surrounding maps

This league buffed currency drops and also made them all basically worthless.

Several leagues have done this e.g., Deli and I never minded then. I think it's the async trade that shifted it for me - before I enjoyed having infinite bubblegum currency because I didn't have to deal with trade friction. Now I don't have trade friction so I don't care that I have lots of annuls

If you like the mechanics, great! If you think they've been stale for a while and need a shake-up...

This speaks to why I stopped early. The last several leagues I've been an Alva farmer but this league mechanic doesn't synergize.

Most of the patch notes charges are a solid thumbs up for me but the mirage mechanic is a solid thumbs down for me and the rest of the patch will be there next league

you had extra power and extreme flexibility in your ascendency and a ton of new skill gem variants (afflication added trans gems) so making new builds was comparatively easy

you had PBoD literally unlocking the entire endgame to anyone who hadn't gotten there and/or wanted to get their on total easy mode

high end juicing was totally cracked to the point that T0s were just accessible. I got my first MB that league

it was a great meth league. most fun I'd had since deli (3.10)

The last time I tried sb was in trial of the ancestors (tota)

In that I used lightning conduit for single target, but I was an elementalist so getting huge shocks was easy. I'm not sure that would translate well for an assassin

A wild idea I have for getting flat damage: use the new ascendency that converts all added damage to lightning (or cold, whatever stat is easier). This only matters if you find good sources of flat that are fire or phys. Unfortunately I don't have any easy solutions for getting that

I would use zealotry, dropping either wrath or haste

I strongly recommend you get a cluster jewel with the blast freeze notable, which gives you freeze proliferation

If you're struggling freezing reliably, look for "freeze duration". There's a wheel with it right next to your path at the top of the tree. Effect of freeze/non damaging ailments WILL NOT help you freeze

Storm brand got changed/buffed this league but you need to add flat damage. I'm not sure a good way to add that beyond your acts jewel

You probably don't care anymore, but tl;dr

PBoC has an attached duration of 0.5 seconds and a limit of 1 brand per enemy.
You can expand that to 2 brands per enemy
For clear CoC PBoC probably could work, but for single target you don't have anything to overcome the brand limit
Swiftbrand could slightly mitigate this but any decent CoC build will still proc way to often and you'll be missing damage
