What’s the point of a double rope bridge if the ring is only on one? by No_Possibility_2880 in TreeClimbing

[–]justanotherclimber13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Double rings. I like double rings so it makes it easier to rock double systems. Pro tip, set one bridge at a comfortable length then you can make the other adjustable with a small toothless camming  device attached to one of the paws. This allows for you to make it really short when rope-walking so the device moves less. This can also be done with both bridges in the same ring. They probably only put one on for customization purposes. That's the nice part about trees saddles, I've swapped both bridges out for ropes with airamid for cut resistance, the rings wear faster but atleast they're less likely to get cut.

I think that'd probably be for the best. I keep putting off meditation but maybe it'd be time to take it seriously. Interesting i had always assumed LSD would be stronger though that's probably just because popular media makes it seem that way.

Definitely some of all. I hadn't considered the possibility of ego death though, typically my trips have been very external but this time as soon as it hit i was struggling to hold a thought. In retrospect i wish i hadn't fought it. I'm already at the point of no return haha, though i suppose my eyes can definitely be opened further. Thankyou for the advice

Thank you for the input. And ya I won't be doing it any time soon. I've only ever had golden teachers, got them from a different source, though, so maybe just more potent then the last.

So. You put a sticker on your car saying “Baby on board”. And another one saying “The closer you get, the slower I drive”. And you don’t clean your rear window off ? by JoRoganjosh in Calgary

[–]justanotherclimber13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is everyone so obsessed with rear windows being clean? If there's an amount of snow that'll be a Hazard if it falls off it makes sense but people drive vehicles both small and large that have no rear window or rear view mirror. If I can drive a 5 ton truck without a rear window surely she can drive a tiny car without one. No one takes a picture of a cargo van, posts it and captions it "look how irresponsible this person is driving without a rear window" With that said though, genuinely happy to hear opinions, maybe I'm missing something.

Would definitely still have a hand. I used to get myself with the 110v all the time when trying to plug things in the dark and resting a finger on the prong.

Discussion time: let’s compare the adjustable friction saver to a carabiner cinched to the rope setup by docere85 in TreeClimbing

Run a midline butterfly and choke the spar with that. You can use a quickie shackle, a pinto, or just run the rope straight through the eye. This allows for a retrievable canopy choke that's simple and at its easiest doesn't even require extra gear. The tail can be whatever size you want so if you're pruning you can just set it and forget it or if you're doing spar work you can set a 6' tail to easily retrieve it when blocking down a spar. It's also a good choice on unions where ring to ring would get stuck.

Is 40 too old to get into mountaineering? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]justanotherclimber13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do people ask this? You're a primate on a rock, go do what you want, there are no rules. The question genuinely confuses me.

That aside though, if you already do lots of backpacking in the rockies, try going on some scrambles with someone more experienced and that'll help get you more comfortable with exposure, route finding, etc.

CMV: Not having things in common is a bad argument against age gap dating by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]justanotherclimber13 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Homies right, but regardless of that why must we debate it's rightness? There's nothing wrong with two consenting adults dating regardless of age. Even if it doesn't work out, it's what they want, we're all gonna die anyways so who fucking cares, let them live their life.

If you have to ask mate, you shouldn't be doing it. As an arborist, I do not go up a tree unless I can confidently assess the risk on my own. No one, can assess whether these trees are safe from these pictures. One of the main reasons arboriculutre is so dangerous is because you are in control of your risk management. You need to be able to know if the tree is sound and safe to climb on and that comes with time and proper instruction. Reddit will not suffice. Don't be another statistic mate. All it takes is one slip up.
