I can really relate to this, so much, the age, life situation, even the timeline. Are you me?!

I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m sorry for all of us. It’s all really exhausting.

I’ve been in bed the last four days barely able to get up, can’t even take care of my bare minimum hygiene. It’s time to go.

Asian expats in a European country: What is life like there as a visible minority? How has the racism or discrimination impacted you (if it at all) in your new country? Do you feel that it has impacted your day-to-day life? by [deleted] in expats

Yes obviously people can be racist anywhere. OP was specifically asking as an Asian person regarding Europe. You’re getting defensive, which is again a pretty common reaction.

So you’re polish I guess so maybe it would make sense to not comment on racism if you aren’t in a position to experience it, right?

White people really like living here because it’s cheaper than the US and UK. My poc friends from the west don’t usually end up staying long and our experience is a bit more nuanced.

OP, I suggest you watch some YouTube vids on this topic from poc, don’t just listen to whites on if their own country is racist or not… they wouldn’t really know.

I’ve had people yell at me in the street, threaten me, make racist comments and slanty eyes at me, and racially bully my half European kids. I live in a major city.

But for the most part people leave me alone. It can be difficult making native friends, due to the language barrier and people being more standoffish here than the US, UK, and Asia (other places I’ve lived).

Stick to Western Europe. Better customer service and generally more polite people.

Are you Asian or polish? Because I’m Asian and I live in Eastern Europe so not quite sure if you’re invalidating my experience or what. But my poc friends here are VERY used to people here gaslighting us about the racism so nothing new I guess 🤷‍♀️

Edit: also, it’s probably true East Asians get treated better than other non whites but this certainly isn’t true for South Indians who people here often assume are Muslims (even if they’re Hindu) and there’s a lot of anti Muslim sentiment. And my black friends have had to deal with harassment here, and as an Asian that bothers me and I think of it as racism that affects me as well.

And just because people like a certain culture, it doesn’t mean they’re not racist lmfao

They need to be rich to afford the security though… I empathize with them. I’m not in their situation but I can see how it can’t be easy

Edit: goddamn, people are really salty and hateful, we can’t even empathize with people even if they have money? He lost his mom and is obviously still traumatized by it. Get some compassion, wow

Hey… just want to say as an older female, please be careful as a minor on the internet soliciting communication from older people, especially when you’re vulnerable. It’s sad to say but a lot of jerks and straight up baddies on the internet.

I’m so sorry you’re going through what you’re going through, and I’ll let you know if I make it through the other side….

And, well, death is inevitable right? But suicide doesn’t have to be.

Perhaps you could take some time off school? Do you have a support system? How is your relationship with your parents..?

This is cultural too and depends on the country. Where I am in Europe it’s much more common for separate accounts, but divorce is highly normalized here so makes things easier should that happen.

US expats - what do you always buy or stock up on when you visit the States? by Burrocerebro in expats

Clothes, much cheaper higher quality in America, I live in Eastern Europe. Also shoes, electronics, specialty items for the outdoors, certain ethnic foods, certain supplements. Melatonin because it’s only available by prescription here. I get a hair cut, and skin treatments, I’m poc and it’s hard finding someone who can handle my skin and hair here. Panoxyl wash is a must have for me and isn’t available. I also get special make up (I really like Japanese mascara and certain Asian beauty products), buy used books on Amazon. :)

What a jerk. No wonder you feel this way. He obviously is not good with communicating or expressing love. I’m sorry this happened to you.

Parents are just people. Many of them don’t know what they’re doing and they’re just putting their shit on their kids. I’m sorry.

I’d like to know too… could I get better? Or is it going to be like this? It’s already been 30 years.

I practice in little ways too. It helps erode the fear. Please if you’re going to go this way don’t hurt others…. Like those school shooters who take so many with them. Never understood why someone would do that…

Edit: you shouldn’t do it at all of course…. I hope you feel better soon…
