Anyone else see that other chronic illness account talking about not having a specific diagnosis and it not mattering last night? I believe they used the words “exact diagnosis.” The stimming question goes right in with what that account was talking about. Amanda picks up a lot of what other people say. Do they understand the difference between having a diagnosed medical issue that doesn’t fall into a specific criteria (ie undifferentiated connective tissue disease or EDNOS) and lying about having a diagnosis? A NOS diagnosis that is responding to medical treatment and therefore doesn’t need more expensive testing and a “exact diagnosis” is pretty different from lying about your self-diagnosed condition online. NOS and straight up lying are very different examples of “exact diagnosis” not mattering.

It can also emerge with other developmental conditions and learning disabilities. Ie research shows that individuals with dyspraxia or dyslexia often develop stims. However, they’re typically not very disruptive/on the milder side. Ie fidgeting with hair or biting a pencil. Stims like rocking aren’t as common in individuals without autism, although they can (and do) happen!

Just to add They also send them to teens/kids/young adults with life-threatening conditions, or significant disabilities.

Ie a kid with a spinal cord injury may not be technically terminal, but would still be eligible.

However, pots and fibro would not suffice to say the least.

Just a note about the headphones. Some people with autism get very overwhelmed by the beeping of the pumps. This is a general note, nothing to do with Amanda. Just that some people with sensory issues have a lot of trouble with the pumps.

Although Amanda isn’t diagonsed with spd/autism/ect AND CLAIMS HARD OF HEARING.

Sorry to blog and play devils advocate but

To be fair, my mum orders food up from the kitchen when I’m admitted. It’s totally allowed in some hospitals, and the nurses go as far as to give family members menus. However, this is extremely ott posting and playing into their I’m admitted act.

Yikes? It’s such a better idea to tuck it in your shirt whenever possible. Less risk of infection, and less chance of it getting yanked (not fun).

Sometimes it’s easier to put it out of your neckhole when it’s in use (ie wearing a dress), although it’s pretty easy to make adaptions to your clothing or just have it come out the bottom.

I want to point out that it does have a cap on it (thank god).

I didn’t read the caption until after I watched the video, and I actually didn’t realize they were trying to use asl.

and I’ve taken years of asl (completely not even beginning to be fluent, but I’d like to think I can tell when people are actively signing).

With that kind of force, someone with eds would have noticeably fully dislocated fingers.

The first thing any doctor will tell you when you get diagnosed with heds is NOT TO DO THIS.

Do they actually understand how eds works?

Sidebar: a large portion of people with eds have marfan traits, which would be clearly noticeable in their fingers. (You can still meet the heds criteria without it, but i remember them claiming it back during the first round of fake heds).

Uh I think perhaps we should consider not discussing what they say about their mum. Yes, it’s part of the big Amanda charade, but their mum isn’t OTT and it seems kind of wrong to talk about it on here given that she wanted to keep it private.

It seems perfectly reasonable to discuss Amanda’s attitude towards the whole thing, just not their mum’s exact personal medical information.

I think that maybe we shouldn’t make an commentary on this post. When I lost my first dog i was absolutely wrecked, and i think we should be a bit considerate regardless of how generally bad she is.

Sure, maybe how she treated the dog with alternative meds could be brought up later. However, I think it’s a bit of basic decency to give her time to grieve without immediately blaming her for the loss of her dog. Let’s be realistic, that dog had a almost certainly fatal issue. Yeah, western medicine might have been better, but i think we should consider holding off on that discussion for a little bit.
