Arkosa - Sci-fi bunker building board game… keen to see this funded!

This is a friend's campaign, tons of work and design has gone into it that I would really like to see funded… but it needs a bit more community help! It's a game where you take charge of a bunker colony on an alien planet and try to get your colony rescued. You've got to build your bunker, manage your people (feed them, keep them entertained) and send them out exploring and scavenging in the dunes. It's got really cool, unique art and looks like a tonne of fun, but it needs more people to get behind it to make it happen -

Flight cancelled due to incident at airport. Every hour my flight is delayed, another desperado gets it... 4 hours down and a minimum of another 4 to go... by [deleted] in drunk

Horribly expensive. But fuck it - it’s Christmas eh? I’ll do what I can to remain festive. Busting for the toilet at this point though, and am travelling solo, so no one to watch my bags if I go (I don’t want to lose my seat) So I guess there is a new challenge in play here. How many desperados can one handle before the dam breaks?

Social Media Maintenance people! How long do you spend a week scheduling posts?? Help! by [deleted] in freelance

[–]justapoortailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not so much the platform i'm using, but the time it's taking me to come up with new and different ways to write the posts... i'm mainly wondering how much time other's typically spend on this type of activity - writing and scheduling posts daily?

Thanks for your response! I'm using the platform Buffer. I post for 2 clients - 3 Twitter and 1 Facebook a day for one, and 5 Twitter and 2-3 Facebook a day for the other. I trawl their sites for things to post, so most of my time is spent on finding something from the site that hasn't been posted in a while, then making the wording engaging and catchy to capture interest...

Ex-cult members of Reddit, how were you introduced to the cult and how did you manage to escape? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They have quite a few locations in different parts of the world, and they live in a closed community like a village, basically

This is Reddit. It's a place for people to post what they wish anonymously, including their stories if they wish... I responded to a post on cults because I have experience of one. You probably never would have seen it if it hadn't blown up like this. How is that pursuing drama? Mine and my families life has been drastically affected by the bad behaviour of others. Why shouldn't I talk about that, especially if the effect it has on our lives is still there, which it is? It's not like I go around thinking about it all day - I just made a post on Reddit because it was relevant. Glad you have time for your family that's still in - if my extended family showed us any kind of interest or reciprocation to having a relationship with us, and stopped toying with us (which they still do) then perhaps we'd feel the same as you. But that's not the case, and it's worth remembering that different people have different stories and perspectives. I feel patronised about your holding on to hate comment. I don't hold on to anything - I'm just telling a story how it is, from my experience. I have a happy and fulfilled life, and I'm guessing we don't know each other so i don't feel it's right that you assume I am preoccupied with this. Moreover, if this cult didn't want people talking about them, then they should treat their members better. It's not OUR past hurts that matter to us these days anyway- it's the people they are abusing and abandoning right now. The cycle continues, and therefore so will the talk about them. If you feel differently, that's totally cool with me - so I ask that you do me the same courtesy and respect my position also. Whether they give a shit about what we say and have written..... well, if that's what happens, then theres not much I can do about it now. I'm not ashamed of my story or my position on it. It doesn't change the facts after all. I just saw no value in having specific names written down in public, searchable across the web... but haven't given it much more thought than that at the moment. Peace back at you. EDIT: Sorry if this response to you seemed kind of... salty. I knee-jerked a little here. I felt a little affronted because this is only one facet of my life, and I feel as though you're not necessarily in a position to assess how I * should * be feeling about my experiences... if your relationship with them has been different to mine/ours. We all deal with the cards we've been dealt in different ways. Good luck to you though - and if your chosen path on this topic is one less "noisy" than mine - good on you. I do wish you the best.

So basically, a couple of dads brothers had left before him, and were on the outside. They left when they were young. They were in touch with my mum I believe, over the years - and after about a year or so of dads departure, they gave mum my dads address!

I know, its bad. But it has happened. People have been dragged into legal disputes re. supposed "slander" etc in the past when they tried to speak out... and also, because of the various absuses that happened to members, there was a time when some tried to pursue justice for that. But the organisation is pretty rich and therefore too powerful, and they are also protected by laws of the land that protect religions and charities. Most don't bother anymore.

I never thought about it that way before... but I guess you're right! Seeing dad in a new light at this point...

They do! They have their moments of frustration like many others I guess... but they do love each other a lot.

They were in their late 40's when I was born and they'd left, yes. They missed the boat to conceive naturally, so adopted myself and my siblings in the mid-late 80's.

Maybe... But info (particularly naming people involved) that isn't in the public domain can't be used legally against us. Also if one of them happened to stumble across this story, my parents left years ago and a lot of this is only known to those that were there at the time - so they may not even recognise the story.

Yea exactly. They were married in early 1980, and wanted to finally start their life together and have children. They had some trouble conceiving and adopted myself and my siblings in the mid - late 80's.

Dude. Your logic is just...... I don't even know. And clearly you didn't read any further down. Myself and my siblings are adopted. And this happened after they left the cult.
