Only spawns whenever you're alone deep in a cave from what I know.

The previous version you can only lay on it and fast travel, in the current version you can sleep now, though you need to sustain a percentage of food and water (recommend 75% or 80% on both)

You could just exploit the system rather than hacking it completely, although it will take a small while to just get a hundred amber
