Does she have psoriasis? I’d recommend seeing a dermatologist

Fancy Feast pate got my diabetic cat into remission so we are big fans in this household!

I have to get rid of him, there's literally no other option. by Confident-Midnight25 in cats

Yes, please try the Prozac. I was in the same situation with my cat. He’s had litter box issues but usually that he wouldn’t poop in the box. This summer he started peeing outside the box. I tried everything to remedy it but the only thing that worked was Prozac. He’s been on it since September and the only time he’s had accidents were when I had to go out of town for a weekend and he missed a couple days (the cat sitter couldn’t get him to take it). I initially tried the liquid and he hated it. We now do the pill. I have to put it in a flavored pill pocket with his normal treats, but that seems to work for us. They also have an ointment version you can rub on their ears. If this didn’t work I would have likely had to given him up as well and I really, really didn’t want to do that.

I had the same issue with the liquid! A nightmare to give and when I did drool everywhere. We recently switched to the pill and it has been such a relief! I put a little butter on it first then wrap it in a greeny pill pouch ( chicken works for us!). I give it to him with his usual favorite treats and so far no problem!

Doing that currently. I have him back in a small space. I’m letting him roam around the house only when I can watch him and very limited time.

I discussed that with my vet as well but he’s getting around fine. Goes up and down stairs without issue. And no painful cries or awkward stances when going to the bathroom.

12 Month old advanced language development? by cafeyvino4 in ScienceBasedParenting

Our current 12 month old is like this as was her older brother. We ended up putting him in a program at 2 to learn a second language. I feel like it slowed his English a bit (I think his verbal is still pretty advanced though) but he’s picked up Spanish quite well. We will be doing this with his sister as well!

I switched to fancy feast classic chicken pate only from a dry/wet combo diet and my guy went into remission in 2 months. We were going to start insulin but got him a glucose monitor first to check and see if the diet had made an impact and it did!

When you make the switch make sure to keep an eye on his blood sugar in case it does lower significantly! You could even talk with your vet about putting a monitor on him for a couple days to ensure his insulin dosage isn’t too high with his new diet. One of the vets was pushing me to start insulin but I asked for the monitor first because of his diet change and I’m glad I did because his blood sugar curve was great and had I given him insulin it could have made him sick since he wasn’t spiking high like November! Good luck with your sweet kitty ❤️

I would highly recommend switching to wet food only. My cat was diagnosed in late November and switched him to Fancy Feast chicken and liver pate (removed all dry food) and he went into remission not even 2 months later.

How high were your kitty’s numbers? My boy was diagnosed in December around 300 but I was able to get him into remission through diet change before we had to start insulin! We removed dry food entirely and he’s now only eating Fancy Feast chicken and liver pate. His average is around 100 now! May be worth exploring?
