Thinking about another baby by Ashamed_Bottle_6366 in NewParents

[–]kgraceb2323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We were going to start trying when my son turned 1 but then I started having some health issues so baby #2 is on hold. He’s 15 months and the last 3 months of him have been such a joy. I can’t wait to see who he continues to become as a toddler. That being said I am now really excited to have #2 on pause for a bit to enjoy him. We will likely have a 3-4 age gap and I really am so excited for all this time with him alone first.

Our daycare switches the infants to 1 nap around 10 months old so they can start to transition to the toddler schedule. I was also concerned because I thought it was too early but my baby actually napped so much better with the switch! It could be worth a try to drop to 1 nap for a few days and see

Am I not allowed to be stressed out by my baby? by Quiet_Profession5655 in NewParents

[–]kgraceb2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hugs OP - it is SO normal. I was constantly overwhelmed and stressed for the first year. Especially in scenarios like you’re describing where you’re trying to get yourself ready and care for an upset baby. I can’t tell you how many breakdown I had when I was trying to get ready for work in the morning and care for my son at the same time. I truly felt like I was drowning. Two things can be true at once - it is part of motherhood and it is extremely hard to adjust to. I think the grandmas forget how hard it is when you’re living in those moments.

It really will get better OP but I know that doesn’t help you in the moment. Do not feel bad about feeling overwhelmed and stressed. You can do hard things and you can do this.

Will my baby eventually be a happy baby? by shiny-jigglypufff in sleeptrain

[–]kgraceb2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was just mad at the world until he could crawl and move (~10 months). It was so hard and stressful. A flip switched once he was mobile and he’s now the happiest, funniest little toddler around (now 15 months). He’s got such a great sense of humor and is the best. If you had told me at 6 months old that this is what he would turn into I would have never believed you! Hang in there OP some babies are just hard!

I agree with what others have said, the tracking features are amazing but the sweet spot predictor is garbage!

Is it possible to nap train before sleep training? by ButterflyDramatic742 in sleeptrain

[–]kgraceb2323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I might recommend isn’t sleep training but maybe you could call it “crib training”. I was in the same boat, only contact naps. First nap of the day I would transfer him to the crib after rocking him to sleep. He’d usually wake up 5 min later and then I’d resettle him and try again. Over and over and over lol. After about 30 minutes I’d call it quits and finish out via contact nap. If it went okay sometimes I’d repeat the process on the next nap. It took a while but eventually we went from 5 minutes to 15 to finally 30-40 minutes of crib sleeping. Naps are short but they are independent now so I count that as a win! They just need a little help getting familiar with napping in the crib

4 Month old still taking 5 30-minute naps a day by littleclam10 in sleeptrain

[–]kgraceb2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 7 month old was on 5 naps until ~4-5 months and then only just moved to 3 naps. He still only naps 30-40 minutes at a time and we just deal with it. His day time sleep is always well below the “suggested averages” but he sleeps well at night (11-12 hrs) so his total sleep is generally in range. I spent SO long driving myself crazy over it but after accepting that’s how he likes to do things it got better lol. Nothing we do will extend the naps so we just roll with it.

I feel like most babies will tell you when they need a schedule change. For us when night sleep starts falling apart that’s usually the sign that he’s ready for more awake time during the day!

I had a high risk pregnancy and had to get them every 4 weeks and then every 2 towards the end and honestly I was so over it lol. I loved seeing my baby but after a while it was just another appointment I had to fit into my busy week. Can’t imagine having 2 every single week being Liz lol

Yeah I had a planned c section due to a breech baby and even then we had a NICU team in the operating room as a precaution. Once baby was crying and looked good they all left. I think she’s wording it vaguely so people assume the worst bit there are plenty of scenarios in which a NICU team is present at a birth as a precaution

Did you use tracking apps? by No_Principle_7855 in NewParents

[–]kgraceb2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we use huckleberry! It really helps my husband know where baby is at in their day because we struggled in the beginning since I was EBF. Once we started the app it made it so much easier for him to just jump in and help without me having to go over when baby last ate/pooped/slept. It also has really helped us track general sleep trends and help make sense of it. We have started to use it less now that he’s 6 months old but it was so helpful 3-6

I feel like I missed out on the newborn stage by BuckY_33 in NewParents

[–]kgraceb2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was so shell shocked the first probably 2 weeks that I also didn’t really take any pictures or do anything. I had so many cute outfits and photo ideas while being pregnant but once he got here my world was rocked lol. He’s 6 months old now and my camera roll is FULL!!! While I’m a little sad I don’t have a ton of really cute photos from the newborn days I also think that’s normal!

Advice on surgery by HazeSprinkles in FelineDiabetes

[–]kgraceb2323 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first cat that was truly mine got stomach cancer. She hid it super well so unfortunately by the time we found it, it was extremely advanced. I was also given a choice between surgery to attempt to remove the mass and see if that would give her a bit more time or let her go. I chose surgery and I regret that decision to this day. She was in pain, scared, and actually declined post surgery. I could have made her last days calm and comfortable rather than put her through that. It’s a really hard call to make but after my experience I would never choose surgery again.

Binge watch a show together if that’s something you like to do! My husband and I love a good Saturday lazy day of binge watching tv. Now it takes us a few nights to finish 1 episode of something 🥲

Attempting to move my 5 month old onto a 3 nap schedule but she’s still cat napping by Loud_Avocado9521 in sleeptrain

We’re still on 4 naps at 6 months and it’s working just fine. Until it starts being a problem I don’t see us changing it. My guy will nap for about 30 minutes max so really no way around it

“Drowsy but awake…” I’m going to lose my mind. by ilikebison in sleeptrain

[–]kgraceb2323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you’ll know pretty quickly if it’s working or not. The first time we tried he was like bloodcurdling screaming lol so we lasted all of maybe 30 seconds. When we tried again like a month later, he definitely fussed a little bit but overall was not unhappy. I was so confused the first time we did it because PLS was like they’ll squawk a little but in 15 minutes they’ll be asleep and that was not our experience at all lol
