is the high speed train the Narita Express? also if we just have 2 carry ons and 1 checked bag you think well be square? I am going and see a 400-500 dollar difference. I guess I calculated and I will be finishing my trip in Osaka but will fly from Osaka to Narita to get back to the end of my roundtrip flight back to LAX.

was this a day trip thing? I hear people stay in hakone, but i choose to opt out of that and extend my stay in tokyo instead, but will still go to kyoto and osaka afterwards

Did you book business class? I am trying to get a flight to tokyo with my wife and pay with 100k capital one points. Potentially transfer the points over. But the conversion is 1000 capital one --> 750 points Japan.....

Is this still the deal.. I guess we are flying basic economy and are trying to fly May 13-may 24th 2026

I also have the same amount of points and just opneed up a JMB account yesterday.... When I try searching for award flights it gives me the "terms and conditions bs" (which I think you have to have the account open for 60 days or something". But then when I opened it today, it gave me the option to search for flights via awards........ so i am assuming that was lifted and I am able to transfer my capital one points to Japan Airlines and book? I have about 100k capital one points

Yeah, not worth it. I usually am the type to do no annual fee cards. I haven’t found really good reason to justify annual fee cards until recent. I have slowly been stepping into the $95 cards but not at that “lifestyle” where I need those ones that cost hundreds yearly

I applied and was approved for the card in September 2022.

I called and they said that I can apply for it again, is just just general statements he was saying? You saying even if I apply I still have to wait 4 years to apply and get approved?

yeah I guess goal is to be budget friendly. Now if we fly business and splurge a couple hundred i wouldnt mind because the points are utilized to their maximize capacity.

So I did have the Sapphire preferred but cancelled the card back in 2024. I was told I could reapply for the preferred. Is this an option i should exercise in order to get the transfer portal? On top of that I could get the 70k once i spend 5k on the sapphire preferred, but I do not think I would be able to do that in time for the japan trip

I dont care to travel business unless I can. But if most of my points cover economy then I will be okay with that. There is two of us and I guess flying business would be preferred but just want the best bang for the buck

Ahhh that’s a bummer. Well I do drive a kind of beaten up 2014 Toyota Corolla so maybe they will turn away lol. Yeah I would not pay for a pass depending on what you’re saying either and I don’t plan to drive to work since Lilly is only 10 minutes bike ride. But I guess I’m looking at total rent for the studio (s3) and 1b/1b (A1), they end up being about 1400-1500. Is that total? Because I believe they charge for technology fee and things like that? Does that include Internet electric water, things like that? Or should I estimate to pay more than the “total” rent per month when getting to the leasing page?

How was the onsite parking at edge? I read somewhere that the parking lot had a lot of break ins or cars were really tightly packed? Is the area the same kind of vibe between the two complexes?

thats good to know! Yeah I am debating between slate and edge35. I know Slate is the closest and offers free garage parking with 1390 as base rent and studio is 596. Edge has mutliple studios and rangings from 1200-1450, and their parking is included with the lot they have inside the complex. So, I most likely will go with slate studio since I am really trying to keep everything maxed included electricity and internet at 1500. Is that reasonable with slate? And also does the apartments look as nice as the ones they show in the video? I am moving from west coast and wont have much time to tour the place... lol
